Yes. I go by OlanikeeOsi, I am a self-love manifestor helping women globally learn to love themselves selfishly and authentically including myself. I am 26 years old, soon to be 27 (shout out to any Aquariuses). I am a passionate, chill and spiritual woman with Jamaican roots.
I originally got started in business to raise money for a study abroad trip to Tanzania during the end of my first year of Graduate school. I sold scented shea butter to raise money for my trip and my customer base were both female and male. After I came back from my trip, I continued the business and was introduced to a feminine herbal product that I thought could help many women if they tried it.
During the time I was deep into a book named Sacred Woman by Queen Afua. I was learning about crystal healing, womb work, affirmations and decided to focus the business solely on women. This is when I named my business Goddess Detox. I was now in my second year of grad school and started to sell the Goddess Vaginal Detox Pearls. I learned about social media promotion and from there I got more people to know about my product and gained a following. But I wasn’t just advertising a product, I also promoted affirmations daily because affirmations are what helped me through some rough times, so I thought they could help other women as well.
After selling products on Goddess Detox, I saw that having a self-love product wasn’t enough for women to really embody what it means to love themselves. I thought about having one easy access way to learn how to love yourself and hence the app and personal development lifestyle brand SelfishBabe was born. Originally, it was supposed to be a learning hub and is still in the process of becoming this. Now, women really enjoy the notifications they get to their phone daily and that makes me happy. These notifications now impact their day for the better as well as boost their self-esteem.
Has it been a smooth road?
Has it been a smooth road? Nah, lol.
One struggle I overcame was branching out on my own, whereas before, I was originally working with a friend.
Another struggle was keeping inventory in stock as the demand increased, this is still something I am working on.
Getting customers interested in my product and them understanding that it indeed works vs being a scam. Changing the narrative has been a struggle but I am 3 years in and can see the difference in how people use to react to my product: The Goddess Vaginal Detox Pearls to how they react now and I am happy to see the change.
Customs and the FDA were a whole other beast, lol.
Shipping became a struggle as demand increased, so working to find a warehouse to ship for me was something I had to go through but I am grateful for the time I have gained from doing that.
So, in summary, the road has not been smooth but without the bumps, I wouldn’t have learned to become a better navigator.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the SelfishBabe and Goddess Detox Inc. story. Tell us more about it.
Goddess Detox Inc, my first company, is focused on providing women self-love herbal products that promote physical, spiritual and emotional detoxing. The products include the “Goddess Vaginal Detox Pearls”, a holistic vaginal insert made with herbal ingredients to aid in womb health and vaginal cleansing, along with “Queens Steam and Throne.” The herbal ingredients in these products are absorbed into your body vaginally, which works to cleanse the womb by working with the body to release contents that may be working against the overall health of the womb and vaginal area.
SelfishBabe, my second company, is a personal development and lifestyle brand for women focused on self-love. The SelfishBabe App is the biggest component of the brand. It provides a daily notification of one affirmation as well as one self-love reminder through the day. These daily phone notifications aid in helping women create a mindset that better serves them, so they can continue to create a life they are happy to live.
I am Founder and CEO of both companies and run them both daily. I am most known for self-love talk. On my personal Instagram page @OlanikeeOsi, I provide videos and quotes speaking about my own self-love journey affirming that they help other women on their own journeys. I am also the host of the Selfish Babe Selfish Talk Podcast which you can find on the app, Itunes Podcast and Soundcloud. Spotify and Google Play are being added very soon.
What I am most proud of is that both of my brands help women feel better about themselves in one way or another. What sets me apart from others is that both brands are self-love inspired and now have a global reach through the app.
How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
I definitely see the self-love as well as the natural wellness industry booming in the next five-ten years. Many more people are learning about natural healing, not only through what we use on our bodies but also what we feed our minds.
