Today we’d like to introduce you to Olga Fogerty.
Olga, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
Came to the USA from the Netherlands with $25 in my pocket. Married at 19, barely spoke the language, after being here for a year or so started to pick up some modeling jobs here and there, it quickly became more than that and before I knew it, I was traveling all over the world and living in NYC. I modeled for almost nine years, we started our family and settled down. Had two amazing daughters, had a wonderful time raising them and when they were about to leave the nest, I was trying to figure out what I could do for myself. Photography has always been a passion of mine. I decided to take classes, learn, make mistakes and keep going. Its been a wonderful little business to have, be in charge of my own schedule and still have time to spend with my girls. We live on small farm in NC, which takes quite a bit of my time as well to take care of and manage all the aspects of living with large animals.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It’s definitely not been a smooth ride, the learning curve in this digital time has been a challenge but I love learning and I continue to learn everyday. Transitioning from being a full-time mom to a business owner took time for some people to get used to! The fact I had other commitments and was not always available is still a challenge. Marketing myself is still something I need to focus on.
Please tell us about Olga Mohr Photography LLC.
I am a photographer. I just love light and will pretty much shoot anything. I work by myself, my daughters help and assist me at weddings or bigger jobs. They also help me with my social media and website. It’s been great to work together. I love helping other business owners with making their businesses become more visual and attractive to potential clients. Whether it’s their headshots, or product or lifestyle pics. Pretty much anything to get the message across of who the person is and what they believe in. I also enjoy working with a few bloggers, which is always fun and it’s quick and they know what they want. I also love shooting high school seniors, I love treating them like a fashion model and show them how amazing they truly are!!!! What sets me apart is that I modeled all over the world, worked in every type of situation possible, with the most amazing photographers, I believe it gives me a unique perspective. I also love shooting fashion and work with models on their portfolios. I hope to expand this part of my business.
If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
I would have started earlier!! Because I love doing what I do…. and there is so much to learn and I started later in life but I am so grateful.
