Today we’d like to introduce you to Omarie Mann.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Omarie. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
Rush The Line was conceived based on a personal problem that needed to be solved. Rushing to finish my last-minute packing for a family holiday cruise, I made it out of the house, through security at Hartsfield Jackson International, and to my gate with about twenty minutes to spare before my flight would board. I was lucky enough not only to find a seat but to find one next to an outlet so that I could charge my devices.
As I settled in, I realized that in my haste I forgot to eat and left my headphones at home. I had two choices: stay put and forego food and headphones or give up my seat and rush to find food and headphones while trying not to miss my flight or any important gate announcements.
It was in this moment that I thought, what if there was a third option? What if I didn’t have to choose? What if I could order food and headphones and have them delivered to my gate without having to leave my seat? This is the origin of Rush The Line.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
The entrepreneurial road has been far from smooth, but it has been and still is an exciting journey. One of the biggest struggles is when you have clear line of sight to the finish line (going to market), but no earthly idea where to locate the starting line. Sometimes on this road we get so fixated on the finish line or going to market, that we feel like we are isolated in a tunnel with no light at the end.
In those moments, it is critical to stop and turn around so that we can see how far we have actually come and all of the mile markers that we have passed in the form of failures or missteps, information gathered, connections made, etc. that put us farther down the entrepreneurial road than we realized. And it is with this new perspective that the walls of the isolated tunnel start to fade, and the finish line reappears closer than it was before.
Please tell us about Rush The Line.
Rush The Line specializes in food and product delivery. We provide a platform for someone inside of an airport to remotely order food and products from businesses located inside the airport and have them delivered directly to their gate.
I am most proud of my team. While the concept of Rush The Line was my own, I have three teammates that are paramount to the progress being made. Each person brings a unique perspective, a diverse background, and a distinct skill set. Together we have educated ourselves on the City of Atlanta’s procurement process, joined Georgia Tech’s ATDC, and conducted customer discovery. We’ve also connected with fellow entrepreneurs and mentors in the Atlanta startup community.
What sets us apart is that right now we are focused on providing our service to flight attendants. If you are a flight attendant please go to our website (link is in the contact section of this article), take the survey, and subscribe to our email list.
If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
I honestly wouldn’t change anything. I respect the process and everything that I’ve learned along the way.
