Meet Paige Alexander of L’Jai Amor

Today we’d like to introduce you to Paige Alexander.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Paige. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
My mom gave me a sewing machine for Christmas instead of sewing by hand since I had a freak accident with needle and thread while taking in some clothes that didn’t fit. Once I got the machine, I started playing around with fabric. Until one day, a friend of mine asked me to create an unconventional piece out of trash bag where I created a couture dress. The crowd was in love and that is where it all started. I started with making custom pieces one by one to now having a full-blown luxury design company.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has been a slightly bumpy road with many trials that I’ve managed to get through. I am so happy for all of the obstacles which helped me grow to who I am today. Some struggles include finding my aesthetic and what style best fits me, learning how to operate an e-commerce website effectively, finding funding, learning how to wear many hats, and the biggest struggle of them all doing them all by myself. I am forever thankful for the struggle for it is making me into an unstoppable force!

L’Jai Amor – what should we know? What do you do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
My company is L’Jai Amor a womenswear brand. I use my personal style as the identity of my brand. My focus is on creating designs that are fabulous and eye-catching. My design aesthetic is creating a wow factor from fun prints to hand-beaded fringe details with special attention to detail. I am proud of starting with no funding and growing to a full functioning company with numerous celebrity clients. What sets me apart from others is that I would much rather not follow behind what is treading, instead the goal is to make a classic piece that lasts.

What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
My proudest moment was having my dress on the red carpet of an awards show.
