Meet Paige Fordham of Jax and June Boutique in Marietta

Today we’d like to introduce you to Paige Fordham.

Paige, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I’ve always had a love for fashion and styling but my passion caught fire while working in retail when I lived in Carrollton, GA. I had been offered a job as a part-time Sales Associate and worked my way up to Store Manager/Buyer. Once I had the opportunity to buy, see the process first hand and travel to shows in various states, I felt like I had found my dream job. Unfortunately, this dream of mine was put on hold when I moved to Atlanta but I knew it wasn’t over and the opportunity would come back to me.

I had started to think, what if I start my own business? I could continue to work in the corporate world but also have my dream as a boutique owner. July 2019, I applied for my business license and started collecting inventory for my grand opening. During my first year, there were, of course, some ups and downs but the support from my customers was unbelievable. I had so many people who believed in me. In my first year, I had around 300 orders. Whether that be from the website or a friend contacting me directly. I’ve never felt so much joy in helping someone feel good through clothing. I believe that when you have the right outfit, you feel like you can accomplish anything. My husband and I have recently moved to Austin, Texas and I’ve been handling a lot of behind the scenes work in preparation for the Re-Grand Opening!

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
I’m very proud of how well Jax and June Boutique did in its first year. There were a few bumps, learning what my customers liked and didn’t like. Of course, I had a few pieces that didn’t sell like I thought they would but through this process, I learned a lot and helped me in seeking out new pieces for a new launch.

I will say, I was pleasantly surprised at how many sales I had during the height of the pandemic. It really showed how many people were supporting small businesses!

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Jax and June Boutique – what should we know?
Jax and June Boutique is an Online Women’s Clothing Store and I specialize in women’s fashion and accessories.

What I am most proud of when it comes to Jax and June are the messages I receive from a happy customer. When someone tells me how well a piece of clothing fits them and how it makes them feel, it feels good to know I had a small part in making that person’s day through clothing.

What sets Jax and June apart from others is the personal connection I have with a customer. Since I am the sole person running Jax and June, I have the chance to personally get to know someone, figure out what they like and answer any questions pertaining to fashion! I love when a customer reaches out and asks for fashion advice, it makes me feel good knowing they trust my opinion!

Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
My family and friends definitely deserve credit but my husband has been my #1 supporter through it all. He has cheered me on since the beginning and always gives the best advice. Whether it be advice for Jax and June or myself, he always has my best interest at heart and continues to help me reach my dream of growing my boutique. He’s even picked out an item or two, which by the way… sold out!
