Meet Paige Williams

Today we’d like to introduce you to Paige Williams.

Hi Paige , we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I started playing music at a very young age. To be exact, it all started on this tiny toy, upright piano with 10 keys that my parents gave me when I was super young. I think I caught the bug once I touched those keys to be honest. I just remember trying to learn Kirk Franklin songs on it by playing one note at a time with my index finger. It wasn’t the most efficient way to learn but I’d like to think I’m doing much better now hahaha

I would’ve never thought that all of those years in choir and playing music alone in my basement would lead to me making a living off of music, but here I am! In the past decade, I’ve graduated Magna Cum Laude from Georgia State University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Vocal Performance, I’ve been blessed to work with multiple celebrities (KCamp, BabyRose, Pixie Lott, etc.) and even got chosen to be the opening act for Sir-Mix-A-Lot.

Currently, I’m just continuing to push myself and getting comfortable with being uncomfortable. Whether that means moving to the LA or going on acting auditions; I am craving growth more than I ever have.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It has never really been a smooth road but that definitely contributes to the beauty of it all. Artists and creatives are constantly changing, learning and adapting which is not always easy but makes for some good songs!

Honestly, most of my struggles are internal and I know I’m not alone in that. Of course, I’ve run into racism in the industry but it’s unfortunately expected. All I can do is control how I react; which I’m improving on. But girrlllllll, one of these days, I’m not going to bite my tongue anymore….🤷‍♀️

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
Right now for work, I’m gigging when I can, directing, teaching clients and pretty much doing anything arts related for income! It’s a super fulfilling way to live but can definitely get exhausting when I’m pouring so much into other people’s artistry. I specialize in voice, piano and musical theater!

Something I’m definitely proud of recently is the single I just released with my big brother! It’s called “LATL” and I feel like it represents the West End and Atlanta really well. I worked hard on this song with several other super talented individuals and I’m extremely proud of the result!

I’m most proud of my dedication to not giving up. This industry is scary and it sometimes feels like time is just flying by. BUT I’m constantly reminding myself that everyone has their time and the only people that don’t make it are the people who give up.

Have you learned any interesting or important lessons due to the Covid-19 Crisis?
Oh for sure! When you make bonds with your clients beyond the teacher-student dynamic, those people will stick with you through thick and thin! If it weren’t for the students who stayed online with me through this pandemic, I’d be BROKE broke. So I’m extremely grateful for that.

I’ve also learned that no one is going to make you do what you need to do but YOU. YOU have to be the driving force. YOU have to be your inspiration. YOU have to make it happen; whatever that “it” is. The beginning of quarantine had me realllll comfortable with just sitting on the couch and ordering Postmates but I eventually got my ass up and started to make things happen. I think if it wasn’t for Covid, I wouldn’t have improved so much in my craft and overall lifestyle.
