Today we’d like to introduce you to Pamela Elder Mobley.

Pamela Elder Mobley

Hi Pamela, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I am Pamela Elder Mobley, a psychotherapist, Certified Employee Assistant Professional, Nationally Certified Counselor, Substance Abuse Professional qualified, wife, and mom born and raised in Atlanta Georgia. A true Georgia peach. Grady, baby lol. I graduated from Frederick. Douglas High School. I obtained my bachelors degree at Georgia State University, and my Masters in community counseling from Argosy Atlanta.

I was a teen mom of 2 by 18 years old Raven and Robin, then came along the two little people Ramere and Rilynn while I was in college and grad school. I was determined to pursue my goals and passion while being the best mom I could be. My ultimate goal was to be someone that my children and family could be proud of.

After navigating through the ups and downs and challenges of life, including divorce and other losses. I reconnected with a high school friend, Eric Mobley. Our friendship turned romantic, and flourished into an amazing marriage. I was so happy that my children got to see that real love truly exists. Going into the fourth decade of my life, remarried, oldest daughter (Raven) preparing to graduate college, and my career and businesses were booming! I was ready to take on 2023!

On March 25, 2023, just 4 months after my wedding, and 19 days after my 40th birthday, I received a devastating phone call that would shatter the world as I knew it. I was informed that my daughter Raven Jeffress was involved in a hit and run head on collision and would succumb to her injuries. This will forever be the most devastating news any parent can receive. There is nothing that prepare us for the loss of close family members, especially when it is a human that you brought into this world. One day I felt I was on top of the world and just like that, all of my plans all of the things that Raven and I were destined to do together came crumbling down. I honestly did not know how I was going to survive this. But I knew I had my other kiddos, my new husband, friends and family that needed me! So I knew I had to find a way to turn this tragedy into triumph!

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
You would be surprised at how much negative response you get from posting images and feelings about navigating grief. It’s crazy how people would think that someone post something so raw so real just for likes and attention. I share the rawness pain and beauty of grief because my love is much too big to grieve in silence. We live in a world that appears to only have space for highlights of our lives. However, we all are dealing with the realness that life presents as well. I just chose to share that along with my highlights.

Also navigating trauma and compounding grief in a public eye, with others watching, judging, and providing their unsolicited thoughts and feedback.

Carrying on the legacy of your child, when you were creating a legacy for her to carry is one of the most challenging things I will ever encounter.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I created the Ray T Beacon of Light AMPS Foundation, affectionally known as The Ray T Foundation to continue Raven’s legacy. Raven was a 22 year old Georgia State College student majoring in Psychology. She was scheduled to graduate May 4, 2023 at 2pm, on the Dean’s List. Unfortunately, on the early morning of Saturday March 25, 2023 she was struck head on by a reckless driver. The driver and passenger fled the scene.

Raven had dreams of becoming a Psychologist and contributing to mental health research to improve humans suffering from mental health disorders. She was also a Co-Founder of A.M.P.S. A.M.P.S. stands for the Alignment of the Mental, Physical, & Spiritual. Their intentions are to inspire collective elevation and evolution by exploring the Mind, strengthening the Body, and connecting to Soul!
Raven ultimately aspired to create a community and worship wellness center, and ultimately change the world.
Raven’s organs were donated and she was able to literally save lives.
WE WILL CONTINUE HER LEGACY!
Our goal for this Foundation is to continue her community work, and also provide an annual scholarship for a student attending Georgia State University, majoring in the mental, physical and or spiritual health field.

After only a few months creating the organization, myself, AMPS, friends, family and our community raised enough money to award the 1st Annual Ray T Beacon of Light AMPS Scholarship in September of 2023, We also participated in back to school drives, toy drives, and feeding the homeless just to name a few. March of 2024 we hosted our 1st talent showcase to shine light and provide monetary support for local, up and coming artists in Atlanta. In 2024 we also gave out our 2nd Scholarship and book awards. We teamed up with other organizations life the Total Access Foundation and created a memorable experience by donating gifts to the Frazer Center’s adult program for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities with my dear friend Stacy Franklin’s Daughter, Shannon following the passing of her mother and sister Shayla.

2025 I officially established a board and committees to take The Ray T Foundation to even bigger things. The more money we raise, the more we are able to give back to the community.

Can you talk to us about how you think about risk?
I feel like I took a major risk being so transparent about my grief journey. I have always been a pretty transparent person. Willing to share the ups and downs. However, I never could’ve imagined sharing my raw emotions, crying over my daughter Raven on a reel posted would captured over 6 million views, touching the lives of so many and inviting them into a safe space to witness and even discuss grief out loud.

As a therapist, choosing to be soooo vulnerable…so transparent could be tricky. In my mind I would wonder, will people think I am too broken to support them? What would this look like for my career. But I realized that in this thing called life we often have experiences that can be to stretch us for others. I figured if me sharing could help just one person feel less alone, feel seen, feel supported, then it was worth it. Sharing my grieve journey allowed has done the opposite of what I thought. It has taken off the “my life must be perfect to be a therapist” stigma away. It’s made me more relatable and now I am able to support others through grief in a way I never imagined I could, all while continuing my baby’s legacy through the foundation.
