Meet Pamela McCloud of The McCloud Law Firm

Today we’d like to introduce you to Pamela McCloud.

Hi Pamela, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
As a nine-year-old, the woman I cherished and adored most was murdered. Aunt Francine’s untimely death and absence of justice would serve as the catalyst for a lingering, burning interest in the law that would be fully re-ignited many years later.

For almost 2 decades, I worked as a claims adjuster for nationally recognized insurance companies, which involved significant interaction with attorneys. As a result, my interest in the law was continually piqued. Along those same lines, I worked as a case manager for a law firm managing Personal Injury cases for injured plaintiffs which also bolstered my desire to become an Attorney.

Despite my age and trepidation, twenty years after graduating from South Carolina State University with a Bachelor’s degree in Professional English, I decided to take a leap of faith and pursue a law degree in 2017 as a full-time student. In May of 2020 and in the infancy stage of the COVID pandemic, my preparation for the bar exam commenced, and in October 2020, I sat for the first ever online bar examination. A few months later, I learned that my 30 years plus dream had been realized.

God had not forgotten me. It reminded me that I’d lived the majority of my life in a state of “one belief away.” Prior to this pivotal point in my life, I’d doubted God’s power and my ability to accomplish anything through Him. It is one thing to watch God move in the lives of others around you. Seeing and watching Him move in your very own life is a different experience. Leaning on that same faith, The McCloud Law Firm, was founded in January of 2021 and has been wildly prosperous in just under a year of its doors being open.

In summation, I stand in this position as Pam McCloud, Esq., because all things are truly possible when we believe in God and ourselves, take the first step, and possess an unmatched work ethic

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
Smooth road – not hardly! Truth be told, this journey course called “life” has involved many bumps, bruises, detours, losses, and some victories. Each has prepared me in ways that I am now able to comprehend. As a result of significant family challenges, by the age of 17, I lived on my own. At the age of 20, I would give birth to my pride and joy – my first and only child, Asia. My undergraduate studies began at 22, when most of my peers were graduating from their respective colleges. Grades suffered, because study time often competed with the obligations of being a wife, a mother, and a server at a local restaurant. Life appeared bleak at times, but I continued to work hard to create a better life.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Our firm is one that prides itself on connecting with each and every client from a human perspective first. Are there any important lessons you’ve learned that you can share with us?
Along life’s sometimes confusing and daunting journey, I have learned that experiencing fear is inevitable, but that I must do it afraid. Fear is paralyzing and prevents us from reaching our true potential. Fear prevented my growth in many areas of my life until I decided that I would no longer be its hostage.

After enrolling in law school at the age of 43 and passing the bar exam on my first attempt, I was reminded that my age was never an obstacle at all, if I truly wanted to accomplish my lifelong dreams. It was my mindset that needed an overhaul. Once we change our thinking, everything generally falls into place, but there’s little room for negative thoughts.

Lastly, I have learned not to compare my beginning to anyone’s middle or end. Each of our journeys have been custom made and intricately designed by God. Embrace and enjoy your journey!
