Meet Paolo of Miralta Home Care

Today we’d like to introduce you to Paolo.

Hi Paolo, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I grew up in Atlanta in a family of medical professionals, and our family’s pediatric practice has served local families for nearly three decades. Being around that world made children’s health feel less like an “interest” and more like a lifelong moral responsibility. I saw how the healthcare workers I respected most listened to parents and earned trust over time. Later, navigating my own health challenges deepened my respect for nursing and what consistent, skilled care can do for a person’s stability and confidence.

Before I started Miralta Home Care, my career took me through technology, entrepreneurship, and healthcare consulting in Philadelphia and New York. Over time, I kept coming back to the same idea: the most meaningful outcomes in healthcare come down to being there for the family in all ways: showing up, communicating clearly, and delivering reliable care day after day. Home health felt like the right intersection of everything I’d learned: leading teams, building solid practices and earning trust with families through results.

Community service has always been part of my identity, including serving on nonprofit boards, so from day one Miralta was designed to be woven into the ecosystem families already rely on: community organizations like the Bobby Dodd Institute, FOCUS, and others. We’re building a model where families can access experienced support when they need it, with real responsiveness: second opinions from seasoned pediatric nurses or pediatricians are just a call away, and our staff is available 24/7.

My education at institutions like WashU and Penn gave me a strong foundation in social science, but Miralta is intentionally rooted in the real lives of Georgia families. In a moment when affordability is stretched and programs like Medicaid feel perpetually “on the table,” the GAPP program is a literal lifesaver for so many. It helps families get the care their child needs at home, and it preserves parents’ ability to choose work, being a full-time caregiver, or combine both. When it’s done well, it’s better for everyone. Kids spend less time in the hospital and more time where they thrive: at home with the people who love them most.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Not always, and I try to be upfront about that. The moment we’re living in has made both healthcare and building a business more challenging. We’re still feeling the post-pandemic nursing shortage, and in home care you can’t grow by compromising on quality. So we’ve had to build real operating discipline early: backup nurse pools, clear escalation paths, and a habit of over-communicating so families aren’t left guessing when plans change.

Another shift is that awareness of programs like GAPP has grown. Education is still part of the work, but it’s less about introducing the concept and more about earning trust, helping families understand what great pediatric home care looks like in practice, and why Miralta is the right partner for their child.

A challenge for everyone in the ecosystem is actually navigating the flood of information without any real guidance on how to make decisions. Families and even providers can feel overwhelmed by conflicting guidance, fragmented resources, and nonstop updates. That’s why one of the first things we built was a curated guide to resources and events: something that cuts through the noise, gives people a starting point, and helps them get to clear answers faster.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Miralta Home Care is a pediatric-only home health provider, so one thing that sets us apart from the bigger multi-state agencies is that we have expertise by working exclusively with children and their families in Georgia only. A lot of companies split their focus between seniors and adult patients, and while those communities deserve great care too, we’ve chosen to specialize 100% in pediatric cases. That focus shapes everything from the nurses we recruit, the training and oversight we put in place, and the way we communicate with parents and care teams.

We’re based in Atlanta, just down the street from CHOA Scottish Rite, and we’re deeply connected to the local pediatric ecosystem. Miralta works closely with leading pediatricians. If a family needs an MD consultation or a referral to a specialist, our team can often help secure an appointment within days because we’re not trying to navigate this system alone. What we’re known for is reliability and responsiveness: skilled nursing in the home, strong clinical oversight, and proactive communication.

Alright, so to wrap up, is there anything else you’d like to share with us?
If there’s one thing I want readers to know, it’s that you don’t have to navigate pediatric complex care alone, and you shouldn’t have to become an expert overnight just to get your child what they need. The right home care team can make life feel manageable again.

If you’re a Georgia parent and you’re feeling stuck, reach out and talk to us, even if it’s just to ask a few questions. And if you’re a pediatric provider, specialist, or community organization supporting medically fragile or special-needs children, we’d love to collaborate so families get wraparound support faster. You can learn more, access our curated resource guide, or request a consultation through Miralta, because every family deserves care that’s not only clinically excellent, but reliable, human, and truly responsive.
