Meet Patience Stuckey of Patience S. Photography in South Atlanta

Today we’d like to introduce you to Patience Stuckey.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Patience. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
Well one may say that the little girl born in the heart of Atlanta was destined to be a something special. One sunny summer day, in the midst of the bustling traffic and city air thick with the stories of thousands of people, a girl emerged that would later become a distinguished talent. That girl was me, Patience, a Teen Entrepreneur, Photographer, Actor, and Poet & Visual Artist.

As a child, I was somewhat of a sponge; I soaked up every new experience, every new piece of material, and every word that was presented to me. While I excelled in all of my subjects early on, I gravitated towards literature the most. I also spent my spare time cooking up fantastic stories in my head and drawing characters that previously only existed in my mind. That early love of literature and the concept of manifesting my imagination into something tangible translated into my current passion of writing and visual art. I then began to draw and paint more often, I also found myself taking random photos of flowers and street signs or anything I saw beauty in that I just needed to capture… that’s how my profession in photography began.

Turning those passions into a business that benefits others was a true milestone in my life. I stumbled upon the road to becoming a teen-entrepreneur unintentionally. My mother, being an entrepreneur herself and an all-around business savvy woman, was a huge inspiration to me. As I assisted my mother and her clients in the family business, I realized that I would love to do the same in my field.

Throughout my journey as an artist, I’ve had the opportunity to travel all over the U.S. and make memories in Hollywood, New York City, Washington D.C., and many more. I toured numerous colleges in all of those places and got the chance to meet and connect with amazing people working in artistic fields such as American songwriter Taura Stinson and actor Corey Hawkins. In each new place I go, I notice something new about people and life and the world around me. Whether it was seeing a live Broadway show, walking and shopping in times square, seeing the Hollywood Sign in person or taking photos in front of the White House, I’m extremely grateful that I was able to take away being in different places and meeting different kinds of people.

Essentially, I’m an artist at heart and I love to immerse myself in anything creative. I want to continue to learn and grow as much as I can for as long as I can, and hopefully, I will have a positive impact on those around me.

Has it been a smooth road?
Not entirely. One of my main obstacles was trying to remain well composed when my sister, my best friend, my muse, and main support system, left home to serve in the military. The bond my older sister and I share is something too valuable to put a price on and too powerful to put a name to. My sister was a huge part of my growth as an artist, so her leaving was a very difficult part of both of our lives. However, I took comfort in knowing that what she was doing would be helpful to others and would allow her to grow as a person, and I wanted nothing more than for her to be the best version of herself that she can be. We overcame the sorrows of separation by making sure we talked and facetimed every day. Despite the distance, she continues to help me become a better person and inspires me to work harder.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Patience S. Photography story. Tell us more about the business.

How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
Over the next few years, I see my industry flourishing even more so. You’ve heard the expressions “art imitates life” and “life imitates art.” The world of art is constantly changing and evolving as people do. Regardless of where this field goes, I’m very adaptable and able to change as the delicate nature of art changes organically. I will not see any large shifts as obstacles that will hinder my growth as an artist, but as challenges that will facilitate my growth. I love change and am apprehensively awaiting to be stylistically challenged by the new trends of this industry.
