Today we’d like to introduce you to Patrice Sumpter.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Patrice. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
Real Estate is my 3rd career and I started it at the age of 50 years old. I had always had a passion and love for homes and had purchased numerous homes myself. My family and friends would always tell me how they felt I should go into real estate so I would stop selling our homes (we moved into the metro Atlanta about eight times).
So, after going through a very painful experience with the company that I previously worked for, I had to make a decision to resign from that organization, I had to reinvent myself.
At the age of 50, and my previous background in HR, I knew it would be difficult to go into a corporate environment at this stage of the game. My only hope was to start my own business. Starting a new career would be hard but, I had to determine where were my passions.
I knew I love to help others to discover their dream of homeownership. I wanted to make an impact in my community and throughout my area.
I’ve been in real estate now for five years and I am the in the top 4% of an agent in across the country and #2 in my office. My sales have increased every year and this year, I’m projecting to sell $12 million.
It’s has taken dedication, commitment, hard work and many referrals from friends, family and previous clients.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
When you are starting over at 50 years old, it’s not smooth at all. First to have to go into a classroom to learn a field that you only know the customer side wasn’t easy. Secondly, people taking you seriously when you first get started and giving you the opportunity to list or find their new home. Thirdly, being in a total commission job and if you don’t sell a home you don’t get paid.
Please tell us more about your work, what you are currently focused on and most proud of.
I’m a real estate agent and I specialize in helping others to find their dream home or to sell their home. I am an independent contractor but, has my license with Berkshire Hathaway Home Services.
I am proud of the fact that in such a short period of time that I have consistently had one of the highest volumes of sales in my office (#2 agent) and one of the top 4% across the country.
What sets me apart is because my background was HR I tend to be able to project needs, desires and wants before my client knows and understand what they are. I am a huge networker along with my large sphere of influence.
Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
Perseverance, dedication, commitment, determined, not afraid of a challenge. I get up every day knowing that its a new day and I have to drive harder than the day before.

Patrice is a tremendous example that “The American Dream” is alive and well. She is a brave professional woman who stood in the gap at a key time in her life and chose to make our Community a better place. Her passion, professionalism, transparency and FOCUS to help people make The Right Choice in their home ownership decisions should be an inspiration to all. Her clients and customers love her service and commitment in helping them achieve their goals. As the CEO of our organization, I am super proud of all she has accomplished and the path she now excels in and sets the industry standard for. Any consumer looking to transact would be well served by working with her.
