Meet Paul Lubertazzi of Paul’s Pot Pies

Today we’d like to introduce you to Paul Lubertazzi.

Paul, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
My mom and I started out with a catering and take out store. Eventually we added a sit-down restaurant. We always had the chicken pot pie on the menu along with other items but the pie was always the biggest selling item. When we added a private dining area for clubs or groups that met weekly or monthly, the pot pie was always requested. We’d be like, you just had that last week, yeah but we want it again. Then we added a pot roast pot pie, it was a hit. Bought a refrigerated case to hold whole pies, added more flavors, and the rest is history.

Has it been a smooth road?
Restaurant, food business, smooth road, that doesn’t happen. The struggles we encountered was when we expanded, not once but twice. When you have a lot of overhead, you have to be busy EVERYDAY. Keeping your costs down is key, but we survived and have been very blessed in our business.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Paul’s Pot Pies story. Tell us more about the business.
We sell whole savory pies, a 6″ pie that serves 1-2 people and a 10″ pie that has 6 servings. Twelve delicious flavors. We are very proud with our repeat customers, that they enjoyed our product and came back for another purchase. I think peeling our 200 lbs. carrots, dicing 150 lbs. of onions every week, along with other fresh ingredients makes a difference in the finished product.

So, what’s next? Any big plans?
We hope to open other locations and possibly franchise, anyone out there want to open a “Paul’s Pot Pies”?
