Today we’d like to introduce you to Phanesha Jones.
Hi Phanesha, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Firstly, I want to give a huge shout out to the best media company ever, Voyage Media! You guys are definitely leading the media industry by leaps and bounds with all of the rich content you consistently provide to readers, as well as fostering such a solid platform that is specifically supportive to creatives, entrepreneurs, small businesses, and local institutions. Thank you for this amazing opportunity to chat with you and to share my story. Okay! Back to your question (LOL). I am Phanesha Jones. A woman who discovered her purpose of existence out of the pain she experienced in life. I am a native of Macon, GA. A daughter. A sister. A friend. A public health professional by day and an entrepreneur the rest of the time. And to sum it all up, I am a woman of faith. The more I experience life, the more I see that I am a result of my ancestors prayers. I was heavily involved in church growing up. However, my love and relationship with Christ developed as I became older and started to experience different things in life. As I studied my bible, the nature and character of God, I discovered there was great power in prayer. The more I prayed about the things concerning my life, the more I would see breakthrough in my life and even those for whom I was praying. After losing my father in 2012, who was also my pastor, prayer was the tool I depended on the most to help me cope with grief and my new normal. I quickly realized God was all I needed. As I continued to heal from the loss of a parent, I began to reach out to friends and family just to encourage them. I knew how helpful spiritual encouragement was to me, so I wanted to pass it along as much as I could. Weekly prayers would be sent out by me via text messages and emails. Whenever the prayers were not sent, friends would text me asking for their “weekly prayer”. That is when I realized my purpose. There has always been a passion for God’s word and prayer. However, finding my purpose of being an encourager and spiritual light to others was the game changer.
Let me quickly share this story with you. One day, a coworker messaged me and asked me to pray for her. She had an error in her work and was urgently trying to find where the error was. We prayed and I told her not to worry. I encouraged her to have faith and expect to find the error before the end of the day. She indeed found the error within a few hours. She messaged me and said” You are powerful girl!” I replied by stating,” the same power I have is inside of you as well. We release it when we pray.” I knew God was calling me to serve others, especially women, through providing inspiration and encouragement. I just didn’t know how it would look. I was already part of a family prayer call, and one day God spoke to me and said, “start a prayer call for women.” I hosted the first prayer call on 1.11.2018. It’s been growing and thriving ever since.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has definitely NOT been a smooth road! However, I would not trade the experience/journey for anything. Not only have I grown as a business woman, but I’ve grown spiritually as well. I’ve experienced the ups and downs, highs and lows of business. In the first two years, there would be times where business would be extremely consistent. Then there were times when there was not one product sold in a week. However, I had to stay committed because I knew this was a gift God had entrusted me with to bring Him glory in the Earth. I knew all who would encounter PWP would be blessed by it, even if they didn’t know it existed yet.
As you know, we’re big fans of Powerful Women Pray. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
The Brand itself, Powerful Women Pray was birthed out of the prayer call I mentioned earlier, and we launched the apparel company at the end of 2018. Since its inception, Powerful Women Pray has directed its efforts of being a trendy faith-based apparel company with a message so powerful, it’s sure to be conversation initiator. Each product created and sold at Powerful Women Pray is answered prayer. We always pray that God will place PWP products in the right hands. The right PWP product in the right hands at the right time can save a marriage, plant a seed of hope, initiate a dream, solve an issue, even save a life, and prompt a prayer. We strive to provide the highest quality of customer service to ALL customers. We may not know the name and condition of every customer, but GOD does, and that’s all that matters. The opportunities and support the communities give to support small, black-owned businesses. The support is unmatched! For example an Atlanta based company, The Village Market ATL created a space to offer a magnetic, safe and welcoming experience for small business owners and cultivators to experience a space of positive and progressive energy to sell their uniquely, handmade products to consumers. It’s one organization Powerful Women Pray hopes to work with more extensively in the future, in efforts to serve even more people within the communities in Atlanta and surrounding areas.
