Meet Plat Gamma of Gamma View in West End

Today we’d like to introduce you to Plat Gamma.

Plat, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Moved from Little Rock AR to Atlanta on New year’s day of 2017 with my little brother and 1k in my account. I wanted to pursue music and film and my two good friends Adam & Tiny convinced me that this was the move. The first six months, I was working as a freelance graphic designer and an Uber driver as well as numerous other side hustles. Bills was being paid, but depending on my art to pay my bills was never a good idea for me.

There was a designer in Atlanta I looked up to who I reached out for advice and developed a working relationship with where she would pass me some clientele she was too busy for. With one particular client I took on, things ended rough. There was miscommunication and she ended up trying to sue me to get a full refund. Now it’s either pay rent or let her win with the full refund.

When the client ran to my mentor, she took her side and blocked me from everything. After that incident, I was in a slump, I didn’t create anything for about a year. That’s never normal for me. I’m an all-around creative. I eventually picked up a job that allows me to travel weekly and eventually started filming skits with some friends. Only thing is, dealing with people schedule isn’t always at the pace I would like so I began trying to figure out a way to film without help, when I want, and how I want.

I was in a YouTube University session one day when I ran across some vloggers doing cool stuff with their IG stories. Now, I don’t know anybody making their stories look cinematic so I started messing around and creating. More consistently than I was with the skits. My mission was to make my daily life cinematic. The more I filmed these daily vlogs, the more people I met, the more attention I got, the more I got in places for free, the more I developed new skills. The plan was to practice filmmaking everyday, but lately it seems like these vlogs might turn into something else entirely.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Of course! A few months back I was in a Starbucks working on a skit right? As I’m typing some dude ran up, snatched my laptop and ran out the store. I was in shock so I didn’t move until he got out. So that pretty much set me back BUT it pushed me to put more attention to the vlogs I was doing and getting better.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Gamma View – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of and what sets you apart from others.
I do event recaps, commercials and these moving photoshoots (I don’t know what to call them) but anything to practice cinematography I’m on it.

So, what’s next? Any big plans?
I plan to open a production studio and start releasing short films and music videos on up to feature-length films. Soon as I get the money it’s over!
