Meet Pong Tulyathan

Today we’d like to introduce you to Pong Tulyathan.

Pong, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
My journey began when I was attending a private high school in East Hampton, New York in 2014-2018. The first day in the school I barely can speak any English, I was placed in an esol program for a year to improve my skills. Throughout the years, I became interests in filmmaking and start directing and producing my own narrative film. At that time, I was still an amateur young filmmaker eager to learned more about the process of filmmaking. Currently, I just finished my first year in college and right now, I am interested in pushing further in music video directing. In the beginning of my first year me and my roommate: Rainier Benard who is a music producer met a young talent rapper: DarriusTheGreatest from Georgia who is also attending the same school.

Throughout the year we made more than ten songs waiting to be released as an album in the fall 2019 and I made six music video waiting to be release next year. When I was young, I always watched many music videos but have no idea that I would end up making one for artists. I am very glad that I found most of my people that will be with each others for the rest of our lives and will continue to tell our stories through art and music to the whole world.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
A lot of people mostly our friends told us that we had a lot of good things coming and that we put in a lot hard work as a freshmen, however my challenges was very emotional along the way. As an outsider from Bangkok, Thailand located in Southern East Asia, it was very hard to get an audience and get respect from the others. Also a lot of people judges my English speaking skills and the lack of my communication skills. I believe that the only way to get respect from others is to keep making art and telling stories through visual and films and waiting to be respected from the work I put out.

What else should our readers know?
I am currently majoring in film and television at Savannah College of Art and Design. The roles that I will continue in doing is to be a Director, Editor, and Colorist for the film.

Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
My favourite childhood memory was when we were innocent kids who doesn’t have to worry about our futures and financial needs.
