Meet Priestess Sabree of Three Hoodoo Sisters in Smyrna

Today we’d like to introduce you to Priestess Sabree.

So, before we jump into specific questions, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I was born in Haiti in the city of Okap. I came from a well to do family, but after the fall of papa Doc, my family began to migrant to the United States and Canada for a better life. We immigrated to New New York and settled in Boston, Massachusetts. My family wasn’t religious, but following tradition, they baptized me in the Catholic Church and placed me in catholic school. I loved the saints and could never understand why the nuns were so damn rude. I always had a gift of reading people; I just knew not to go around certain people. My mother says till this day I don’t like anybody. I’m suspicious of everyone and everything.

Has it been a smooth road?
Let’s just be honest; if life was supposed to be smooth, we would have no stories to tell and be very boring and predictable. Our stories mold us and inspire others. I was supposed to have gone to college and been a lawyer. All my parents wanted was that law degree, but I was always mystical. I loved psychics, spirits, tarot cards, and open to all religions. I have been Muslim, Jehovah’s witness, Baptist, and the wackiest of them all seven days Adventist. I have been dead broke to where I had to pawn my childhood gold jewelry, stuck at dead-end jobs and had very low self-esteem. I suffered from secret depression to the point I would just eat and lay in my bed. Spirit saved my life.

Please tell us about Three Hoodoo Sisters.
I want to return people of color to their Ancestral religion. To empower themselves with the ancestors, spirit, and God. I am a very proud Haitian Vodou priestess that specializes in Tarot and various forms of divination. I am a two-handed worker that does spiritual work to enhance my client’s lives. In order to remove negative energies, I offer cleanses and other spiritual services. I make spiritual products and sell African inspired jewelry. I open the doors into initiation in Haiti Vodou and the beautiful culture of Haiti for certain clients. Funny, because most people will know me from my YouTube a Three Hoodoo Sisters, where I do celebratory and political readings, but I am a priestess.

How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
I joke that everyone and their cat is spiritual and offering Tarot card readings. The industry has exploded. Imagine Beyoncé talking about OSHUN and the ancestors in her music. People want to know about themselves and heal their wounds. It’s cool To be spiritual. Burning sage, flordia water, and meditation. Spiritual items are being sold on every corner now, but are we really being healed is the question. African Spirituality is not a trend. You approach the deities, ancestors, and Spirits with respect. You do the inner Work to heal yourself. People want spirituality to be like a McDonald’s drive-through and gave it your way. That is inauthentic and you are doing yourself a disservice.
