Today we’d like to introduce you to Princess Elmore.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Princess. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I started acting when I was in elementary school I had a lead role in a Black History play and I honestly can’t believe I still remember my character’s name which was Cowslip!! Lol!! I knew at that moment that this was something I wanted to pursue as a career one day. I began participating in school plays, church plays and also singing at various events, weddings, funerals etc. anything that would keep me on the path of becoming an entertainer.
Once I became of age I attended every single Tyler Perry stage productions, David Talbert productions and so many others. I remember telling my husband that will be me one day up there on that stage and I’ve never looked back since. I’ve stayed focus on that path even though it took me a while to really get back into performing on stage after getting married and having and nurturing my children. Now that my kids are grown with the exception of my youngest son who is now 13 years of age and is also a kid actor. I’ve been 100% committed into becoming a full time working actress of course with a bit of sacrifice and a bit of hard work. Currently where I am in this stage of my life is
what I like to call my “Faith Walk”. Prior to me making the decision to embark on my dream of becoming a full time working actress; I was a VP in Deposit Operations for over 14 years and over 20 years in banking as a total.
I decided July 20th, 2018 to resign from my well paying full-time job to become a full-time Actress which has totally been a very interesting journey and not an easy one to say the least but I’m remaining faithful and I am continuing to trust and believe in God that this is my purpose and I will never look back as I continue to strive to fulfill my long-time dream of becoming a successful working actress. I started my acting career a few years ago performing in several local stage Production until one day a couple of years back, my youngest son was booked on a featured film that was shown on TVONE got me to really thinking about transitioning from stage to TV/Film which led me on the path of my present journey. After have had so much experience on stage I honestly had the slightest idea what I was doing in TV/Film because I didn’t realize how much of a difference it truly is from live stage performances until I met my current and Amazing Accredited Chubbuck Technique Acting Coach Jonna Johnson onset of the same movie my son was featured on as well which led me to believe that it was a definitely a spiritual setup from God and his plan and purpose over my life during along this journey.
As soon as I started private lessons with Coach Jonna it was like a light bulb popped on and I began to see and learn and receive a totally different experience in acting altogether and so far the outcome for me has been absolutely spectacular so far. So many people that have never been in this industry would say that being an actor is not hard or it’s not a real job and so forth and so on but they actually don’t know how much work it is to be successful in this industry and how many sacrifices, money and time that goes into being successful and staying above water in this industry!!! Coach J has taught me so many things I never knew before in acting and how to really become the character you are portraying, how to actually let go of self and dive deep into that role.
I’ve learned to be successful in this industry you have to be totally in love with the craft and totally committed and you have to realize this is a very long journey and patience is definitely a virtue!! I’ve been training with Coach Jonna for the past four years and she is also the best accredited Chubbuck Technique Coach in the southeast and over the past few years training with her I have been tremendously blessed to have booked all types of projects portraying all types of characters which have opened up so many doors for me from TV sitcoms, featured films, commercials, industrials and so much more. While I’m still on this amazing journey I’m excited about what’s to come each and every day I wake up which gives me the motivation to continue to strive towards my goals of taking this industry by storm and being a successful Professional actress!!! Look out world here she comes!!!
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Not to say in the least LOL!! This has definitely not been a smooth road at All! There are so many things you have to face in this industry such as hearing more No’s than yes’s and trying to find the best way to market yourself to Casting Directors, Agents, Producers, etc. There are a lot of sacrifices you have to encounter such as spending more money than you actually earn for classes, headshots, footage from previous projects in order to promote your talent. There is networking that has to be done in order to be known by Directors and Producers.
So many what to do and what not to do! It’s a struggle sometimes but you have to continue to look at it as an investment on what you want to achieve and how to become successful on this journey and to never give up no matter what or how long it may take to reach your goal!!
We’d love to hear more about your work.
Well, I’m currently working on an upcoming featured Christian Film called “Relentless written by a very talented filmmaker Jamal McMillan and Acting Coach and Director Troy Rowland. I am also a singer, a mother of four boys, a wife to the most Beautiful and supporting man ever for the last 23 years!! I’m most known for baking and cooking skills for my family and friends and my most famous banana pudding!! What I’m most proud are my children and that God has given me this opportunity to show to the world what gifts he has given me to share with the world and everything that I have been so Blessed to have accomplish up to this point on this journey so far. What sets me apart from others is me being me and trust me when I say; there is none other like Princess Lashun Elmore Lol!!!!!
So, what’s next? Any big plans?
What’s next for me is to of course stay focus on my mission and to be seen very soon as a series regular on a mainstreaming network and to press towards the big screen; but until then I am in preparation for Greater and I will continue to push toward that exact thing. I know that this journey is a Marathon and I am ready to take on the challenge and get to the finish line for sure!!!
