Meet Qiana Crump

Qiana, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Jewel LLC was founded June 1, 2019 with a desire to change the monthly experience of female cycles around the world. We understood the risk of this taboo subject. However, we also understood that females deserved to have a healthier product when it came to sanitary napkins. My family and I started this company with a clear vision to educate families on their product choices. We understand that a sanitary napkin is used by women and young females, but the entire family is affected when our women and young females are using unhealthy products. In life sometimes there is something that will visit you personally, which causes you to have a personal testimony. A few years ago, I was forced to have a partial hysterectomy due to heavy bleeding. As a result, I became anemic and unable to fully function and care for my family. In constant communication with my doctor, I was not given much of an option. As females our monthly experience is something that we have in common. Many of us grew up using products shared by the women in our lives, we used what we knew without any education on what we were putting on or inserting into our body. There are products on the market that are a chemical soup of disaster for women that contain toxins, bleach and dyes. There are approximately 600,000 hysterectomies performed a year in the United States and the majority are African American women. Our women and young females are affected when they do not have a clear understanding of the chemicals and toxicity of menstrual products and why they should not use tampons. Our mission was to raise awareness so we started a campaign, Justice For My Jewel. We believe by informing both teens and women globally who suffer in silence with pain, heavy bleeding, unhealthy menstrual cycles and the potential toxicity of tampon use. We would bring light to this taboo subject of female cycles that has silenced females from all cultures for many years.
The Justice For My Jewel platform educates females on the important roles of keeping a healthy cycle by encouraging getting active, healthy eating, healthy product choices and community awareness events. Our goal is to stop the silent suffering with the voice of our campaign. Women need to know their body is a precious jewel, we share to Protect The Most Precious Jewel in the World, YOU! We also desired to provide a healthier product to help women get their lives back. We believe a female deserves to feel comfortable and dry during her cycle. We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?My husband and I have been entrepreneurs since 1994. Throughout our entrepreneurial endeavors, it has not been an easy road. Starting Jewel, we have been “truly blessed” we did not have any struggles. I believe our struggles have been minimized based on our past experience in business. For example, some of the things we did to start Jewel was to invest in infrastructure, with software, staffing and inventory. Just to name a few of the areas that most startups will face struggle.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?I am an Entrepreneur, who was blessed to have spent years doing what I absolutely loved, which was raising my four kids and being present for my husband all the while pursuing other endeavors with my husband outside the home to provide for the family. I have a special needs son who needed me so my husband and I made a decision to put caring for our son first. Life was not always easy financially but we were blessed throughout the process. I have fully evolved to step into the role as Chief Operating Officer of Jewel/ Reign LLC. Along the journey of growing as a woman, I have learned to raise my voice. I started a platform for women, W.E.L.L. – Women Exchanging Life Lessons, it’s a sisterhood exchange for women to challenge themselves, to be committed to growing and encouraging other women along their journey to do the same.

Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
Being transparent, I do not believe in luck. I believe in being blessed and designing the life you wish to live. I believe you should always be a force behind whatever it is you are looking to do in life to be successful. I believe in applying action to the vision of whatever it is you’re looking to do in life. That’s what really matters, it’s always the force behind any idea!
