Today we’d like to introduce you to Quinae Ford.
Hi Quinae, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
Wow, where do I start? Quinae A. Ford Productions is a theatrical events & consulting company. I wanted to create a space to share my gift of storytelling on stage, as well as provide a space to assist organizations in developing their events through consultation.
I’ve always been attracted to creative arts. If I had to start anywhere, it would be my upbringing in the church. I am a PK [a Preacher’s Kid] and have been my entire life. My father, the late Bishop Quincy Lavelle Carswell, was an instrumental part of my life and my creative side (my mother taught me everything I know about business). My Daddy was a power house preacher and singer, and I would be remiss not to acknowledge his influence on my life.
From singing in the church, I developed as a worship leader and singer. I had a knack for creating productions and skits for special events, holidays, and various organizations, which slowly allowed me to realize that this “knack” for creative expression was a gift that would touch and change lives. I began writing short stories and ideas I had down in notebooks or my Notes on my phone. Over time, those ideas developed and gained a life of their own. Characters developed, and stories transformed. I was in awe of my growth and said WHY NOT?! Each stage production I have either written or been allowed to direct is pulled from biblical teachings, life experiences and everyday interactions.
I am a pusher and supporter by nature. I believe a successful event or idea is established with tangible goals and clear foresight, and I enjoy assisting others in their ventures and development. I truly believe that “every good and perfect gift comes from the Lord” [James 1:17] and I am grateful that He has allowed me the space and opportunity to walk in my gift. From concerts to corporate events, I have been blessed to develop several events from planning and execution. It’s what I love to do!
Quinae A. Ford Productions was created from a desire to do what makes me happy, no matter who saw it. I loved the process of creating something that touched lives and allowed others an outlet. I have given people opportunities to live out their dreams of being on stage and being a part of a production!
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Nothing worthwhile comes easy, but the good truly outweighs the bad. I think this is what makes it so fulfilling. It takes hard work and long hours to produce a great show/event. From meeting with vendors to long, tedious rehearsals/practices to finding the proper funding and sponsors to put on a great production….it’s all a part of the process.
It also takes faith that God will not put more on you than you can bear. I thank God for giving me the vision and the means to execute amazing shows that people actually want to see (LOL)! I truly would have given up, but I realize my purpose is to touch lives through my gift. After a show, when people come to me and say, “I needed this” or “This show changed my life”, I know that this is what I was called to do!
Lastly, the road is easier to travel with amazing people by my side. My husband, Marques, is my biggest fan. God knows I couldn’t do this without him pushing me and encouraging me to keep going. Also, my amazing cast, administration, and supporters. None of this would be possible without them. You know the saying, it takes a village to raise a child, well, it takes a village to support a dreamer and an entrepreneur as well!
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am Quinae Ford. The daughter of Gwendolyn J. Carswell and the late Bishop Quincy Lavelle Carswell. The wife to an amazing man, Marques L. Ford, and the mother to two awesome jewels, Matthew Alexander and Miya Ford
I have worked at Georgia Tech for 20 years as an Administrative Manager. I specialize in event planning and process improvement. I help companies, businesses, and people find the best way to execute their ideas.
But I am also a singer, songwriter, playwright, director, and producer. My hats are many, and I love every minute of it. I have written three stage productions: “Mama Knows Best, God Knows Better”, “What About Jesus” and “Southern Hospitality”. “What About Jesus” will hit the stage in April 2024 for its third year, and “Southern Hospitality” will debut in the Summer of 2024! I am currently working on two more productions, anticipated to debut in 2025, “A Holiday Flex” and “Faces”. I have written two children’s books that are part of my book series, Adventures of Alex and Ally. A series inspired by my children. I hope to publish this year! Just looking for the right publisher!
I also host an amazing web podcast, The Framily Agenda. It’s a group of my close friends that sit and talk about issues and topics that affect the friend group. From relationship expectations and boundaries to life lessons and goals. We talk about it all!
Outside of my own activities, I give back by volunteering my time as a Drama advisor/sponsor at a local high school. It affords me the opportunity to invest in youth that have a desire to be creatives. This includes singers, actors, and playwrights! I am excited to support their first production, Alice and Wonderland, to debut in May 2024!
I believe what sets me apart is that I create an atmosphere of inclusion! I want everyone that I work with to feel like they are part of a family, that their opinion matters, and they are involved in the process from start to finish. The production process is about 3-4 months of commitment, and in that time, we get to know each other and become a part of each other’s lives. I believe it doesn’t work if people join my production and feel like it’s just another job. I want them to walk away just as fulfilled as my audience when they see them perform. My Daddy would always say that your ministry should minister to you first in order for it to touch someone else.
We love surprises, fun facts and unexpected stories. Is there something you can share that might surprise us?
Fun Fact about me is I absolutely lover the movie “Dirty Dancing”. I was on Family Feud for 4 episodes with my family! We won the fast money jackpot twice! I’m really cool and fun to be around, and I love to laugh, LOL! I am so passionate and business oriented that I tend to be focused on the end goal/result.
