Meet Raekwon Johnson of LuxeKill

Today we’d like to introduce you to Raekwon Johnson.

Raekwon, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
Ive always loved fashion, even as a kid Id always show up super late to school because I couldn’t find anything to wear, and I’d swear up and down to my mom that’s I wasn’t leaving this house into I had a killer fit on. Fashion was second nature to me. Growing up my mom owned several boutiques in our hometown, I use to always go up there and help her and the clients out, that is when I knew one-day id love to own my own store. For me my journey really begins as a stylist, clothing is literally my life and I did so well with putting them together that I chose to make that my career choice for years, I begin assisting under Jeremy Haynes (NoIgJeremy) where I learned the ins and out of the fashion industry. It was the difficult but I pushed through because “If it was easy everyone would do it” I use to always say to myself. I decided to go get my first retail job experience at Topshop which helped me in so many ways, I learned discipline, teamwork, time management they gave me alot of gems which I took and ran with. After years of assisting and months of working at Topshop I decided that it was time for me to step out and become the person I was meant to be, January 4th, 2019 I decided to open my first online store, I prepared so much for it put all I had into inventory and marketing tips but became so scared and depressed that It wouldn’t do good that I literally put it on hold and didn’t launch into March. Self-doubt was my biggest demon. After I finally decided to launch it I literally shut my phone off for a whole day because I was scared of the feedback, the next day I had received so many orders and amazing feedback that from the moment I knew this what my calling. I started working so hard on my store that it literally became a mini success overnight.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The journey with building my store hasn’t always been easy or smooth. Ive had so many step backs that’s only I would know about. My biggest struggle would be my self-doubt and semi procrastinating. When picking inventory Id always find myself second guessing if it’ll do good or not 9/10 I always end up ordering it and it does good. The biggest struggle of owning a store is orders and customers, you must always have great customer service which I do but sometimes I always let my attitude get the best of me that ill text my friend or my assistant and say please handle this because I cannot. Customers expect the order the day after the order it and if it’s not there, they’re sending crazy emails and commenting on my business page, which cost me a major headache.

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about LuxeKill – what should we know?
The name of my online store is Luxe Kill which specializes in women’s clothes. My store is my style point of my three close friends style. I’m most known for styling, how I dress and my business. Im most proud of the amount of success it has made in such short time, im proud of how we tend to stand out from other stores which would possibly have similar clothes or marketing strategies. What sets me apart from others is that I stay true to myself, and know who I am the only person im trying to be like or better then is me im in competing with myself on a daily.

Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
You have to have drive, the determination to work harder than most and make sure things get done. You pride yourself on seeing things getting completed and you take charge when necessary. You drive yourself with purpose and align yourself with excellence. You also have to have passion because If you want to succeed, if you want to live, it’s not politeness but rather passion that will get you there. Life is 10 percent what you experience and 90 percent how you respond to it. Self-confidence is major key, you trust yourself. It’s as simple as that. And when you have that unshakeable trust in yourself, you’re already one step closer to success.
