Meet Rafaella Wilson of Simply Sugar Wax & Skincare in Sandy Springs

Today we’d like to introduce you to Rafaella Wilson.

Rafaella, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I moved from Sao Paulo-Brazil to Atlanta in 2009. I was only 25 years old with one suitcase full of dreams to learn English and live in America for 2 years. One year later on my birthday night, I met the man of my dreams, and America became my second home. Before I knew it, I was married, with 2 beautiful babies and making a wonderful life here. In 2012 together my husband and I started a health & wellness brand working from our basement. The business turned out to be a success and we soon built it into multiple other brands. After working for a few years with my husband, which surprisingly worked out really well, I decided to step out and follow my own dreams!

At a young age, my mother taught me the importance of natural ingredients and how to use them to make my own products (including our amazing natural wax). I combined my passion for Natural products with my desire to help others and created something really special. In trying to decide which path to take, I noticed that I could not find any places in Atlanta that are completely organic & natural and that really bothered me. Even the places that claimed to be all organic or natural use all sorts of “fake fragrances” which are terrible for our bodies!

I spent the next year developing my own skincare line, at the same time I received my Esthetician License and enrolled in the School of Holistic Health to better my craft.

After graduating from school, I immediately opened our first storefront “Simply Sugar”. It’s a realization of a dream for a truly special space, all Organic & Natural that came to life. We’ve created a unique environment where customers are treated like family and everything that is used on their body is wholesome and healthy.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
My life hasn’t always been easy but my experiences have taught me to work hard, put others first and surround myself with good people, and I think that is what has helped make us successful. We have been really fortunate in the short time that we have been open, but I truly believe that you are as good as the people who support you. This is a people business and our girls really know how to connect with the customers and make each and every person feel special.

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Simply Sugar Wax & Skincare – what should we know?
Simply Sugar – is really a “labor of love” established with one goal in mind, to provide a special place for customers to feel welcome, comfortable and beautiful. We have created a stunning, yet serene environment where everyone can feel relaxed and pampered by our many special services knowing that all of our ingredients are wholesome.

We specialize in full Body Sugaring, the more gentle approach to hair removal, as well as traditional Body Waxing services. We also offer Facials, Organic Airbrush Spray Tans and Body Treatments (including our Local favorite the Double Espresso Cellulite Scrub) to provide a full transformation all in one stop. All of the products we use are all organic and natural, and most of them are made right here in the spa. Each individual room has a personal touch to enjoy our exclusive treatments. Our family consists of only licensed Estheticians (Yes, we are a family. Not just another franchise) that are trained to provide the best experience in a clean, healthy environment.

We use only Eminence Products. The best organic line on the market for our facials.

I am very proud of the beautiful business that I created. I could not have accomplished all of this without the support of my husband and family, who always believed in me. They are the reason I’ve come this far!

We have been very fortunate in the short time we have been open. I have to attribute part of the success to our awesome girls and their stellar customer service. We absolutely love what we do and we are looking forward to more locations, coming soon in 2017.
