Meet Rahim Brazil of Dream House Television in Fulton County

Today we’d like to introduce you to Rahim Brazil.

Rahim, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
My journey has been unique. When I was younger, I have always been fascinated by the arts, music, dance and poetry. I started by first falling in love with music. I would write songs in the eighth grade in order for me to get out the feelings of my living experiences. Growing up in the East side of Baltimore, I really experienced some tough situations in my family and home life. As a child, I did not grow up in a household with my mother and father. I spent most of my life staying with other family members. This caused me to resent my parents but also made me feel a deep sense of neglect. So, I would write songs, poetry or do almost anything artistic to separate myself from what I was surrounded by as a child.

As I got older, I begin to develop a sense of freedom in music and film. I began acting and performing all throughout high school. One day, I came to the realization that I wanted more and decided to relocate to Atlanta to further my career. After being in Atlanta for almost ten years, I worked hard to connect with individuals, work in radio, act in films, release albums, and begin to start developing myself as an entrepreneur. That’s when I created my own production company Dream House Television. Currently, I am working to grow the business as I develop new ways of sharing art with the masses.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
My particular journey has not been a smooth road. I’ve faced many struggles from my childhood that developed a lot of insecurities within myself. Those insecurities are what made me into the man I am today. I used to struggle with acceptance, but after learning that I had neglect issues from my parents, I begin to change the narrative of my life and what I wanted out of it. Like many artists who are chasing a dream, I struggled with finances. one of the stumbling blocks that I have faced since living in Atlanta was not being able to fund my career as I would like. Life has a way of getting in the way of our plans with school, work, home, bills, etc. This was an area of focus that truly made me want to quit. I used to wrestle with the idea of even going back home to get a regular job and just put my gifts on the back burner. However, Something in me would never allow me to quit, so I begin to make small changes that would eventually be impactful to my success. Although I am still working towards my destiny, I am in a much better place now.

What were you like growing up?
Personality-wise, I was really a quiet child. I spent most of my time underneath my grandmother, who would never mind having me around. I was always the kid that would do my best to stay out of trouble in order to avoid the beatings that my sister and older cousins got. It wasn’t until the seventh grade when I started to develop a stronger personality. I begin to become popular in middle school because I was always acting or doing poetry recitals. This helped me build up my confidence to talk to people, which helped me to eliminate part of my shyness.

In high school, I became more open to people. I used to make people laugh but was also the wisest of my friend circle. They would always come to me for advice or guidance. I always like helping people so I never mind. All in all, I had a strong interest in becoming this big pop star. I would watch concert videos over and over again, imagining myself being on the stage with acts like Missy, Janet, Michael, DMX, Eminem and Jay-z. Music was my first love and I was ready to live it and breathe it.
