Today we’d like to introduce you to Raiany Silva.
Raiany, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
Where do I start?! My journey towards wellness started as early as I can remember; I was the kid that you would catch sitting on the neighborhood tree enjoying a perfectly ripe mango during those dry summer months in Brazil. I think that’s where my passion for health started.
Over the years, I dealt with an eating disorder that changed my life. It was a mental and emotional battle that took me years to overcome, but with the support of mentors, coaches and a few close friends, I was able to breakthrough the challenging mental and emotional barriers and come out on the other side. That time in my life taught me so much about who I wanted to become and that’s when I made the decision that I was never going to settle for the comfort of living a mediocre life.
I started with myself. Healing my body from years’ worth of misinformation and toxic thinking. I turned towards a vegetarian/vegan diet that lasted for seven years and eventually accepted that my carnivorous Brazilian roots could co-exist with my love for veggies, haha. It has been a journey filled with lessons, healing internally and hard work. I took it a step further and got certified as an NTP (Nutritional Therapy Practitioner) through the Nutritional Therapy Association in New York, which eventually led me to start my own coaching business and here we are! I was determined to make my story count. To not just be another victim or number, but use my story as a stepping stone to help others.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Easy? No. Worth it? Absolutely. I think that every journey towards pursuing something you love consists of hard moments, right? Because it’s not just about pursuing a dream, it’s about believing in yourself, constantly pouring into yourself, and healing your own wounds so you can help others. I’ve always seen it as both a privilege and a responsibility. It gives me the courage to not run away from doing my own work and to be present to every moment and every person that’s in front of me. There are moments where I have felt like giving up, but that would be an injustice not only to myself but to others that are struggling without hope. I’d describe it as a roller coaster that I’m not really sure ever ends, but I can still be happy throughout it because it brings me so much joy.
Please tell us more about your work, what you are currently focused on and most proud of.
My business focuses on virtual client work. I start with an initial consultation to understand more about you. To me, it matters where you come from, the environment you’re surrounded by, local stores you have access to, emotional blockage, family history, habits, etc. Sounds invasive, I know, but it’s important to understand that health and wellness is not just about eating fruits. It’s part in mental, It’s part in emotional, It’s part in physical all wrapped up in one. You can’t just focus on fixing one and neglect the others. It’s all interconnected and all about knowing that you’re worth it enough to feel your very best. Most people don’t even think they are deserving of that.
One of my most recent business endeavors that I’m most excited about is a branch called The Wellness Chicas. I partnered with a close friend who is just as passionate about health as I am. We create plans and Offer in one-on-one coaching through our mobile app. It’s really cool because Jordan Le’nay is SO talented and knows everything there is to know about fitness. She handles the fitness portion and I create the meal plans. Two powerful forces combined. Our mission is to help the go-getter, or the “busy bees” as we like to call them, achieve their highest level of fitness through accountability and plans that are actually sustainable.
What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
I can’t think of one moment in particular, but I am proud of myself. I’m proud of the woman I am today in because I’ve been present through all the ups and downs. I’m proud of the small wins, the losses, the big wins, the smiles, the tears and everything that is yet to come. I’m proud of the amazing clients I get to work with, who I get the opportunity to see flourish and overcome challenges. I’m proud of the work that I get to do and getting the chance to connect with women who truly inspire me.
