Meet Rashad Campbell of Set The Tone in West Side Beltline

Today we’d like to introduce you to Rashad Campbell.

Rashad, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I was born in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. I came to Atlanta to pursue Track and Field. I was a Star Athlete in High School Regional Champion, District Champion. I was 3rd overall in the State of Florida in the 400 meter Dash. I was then offered a scholarship to run in college. I began to take courses at school studying Audio Engineering. I began to have a strong liking for engineering and made my way to studios in Atlanta. One particular studio I learned and gain a lot of knowledge from was a studio located in the metro area of Atlanta. My father introduced me to the music scene and introduced me to some of the elite producers and artist. My uncle ShekSpere Grammy award-winning producer/songwriter/engineer responsible for Hits with TLC, Destiny Child, Pink, Keith Sweat, Joe, N’Sync Mariah Carey. He showed me a lot of recording tricks and techniques and necessary groundwork to make it in this industry. I stayed close to the studio and listened to several professionals. Me and my father then invested in a property and began to build a studio and event space that would bring young talent and the Atl party scene together. While doing so, I met a girl group by the name “Taylor Girlz,” we began to work with each other and were able to release numerous songs and a project that is out now called “No Cap”. I am an engineer/producer. I look forward to working with undiscovered talent and overlooked Stars. With the Studio/Event space being constructed, it will bring a new wave to the City of Atlanta for creatives. I just want to “Set The Tone” for the next generation of creatives and professionals.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
In life, there will always be obstacles and tribulations. That’s what makes you elite if you make it out. I had long nights in the studio. Staying up for countless hours mixing and recording can take a toll on your health. Not eating properly and late-night partying in the sessions can take over your health. I struggled with family distance. All my family is in Florida and worrying about members can create anxiety and stress. Also with studios, you come into contact with a lot of spiritual energies and sometimes they can be hard to work through. Consistent prayer and faith got me through it all.

Tell us about your business. What do you do, what do you specialize in, what are you known for, etc. What are you most proud of? What sets you apart from others?
My business is all about the music. Recording and producing a song. Making it sound as crisp and refreshing as possible. I engineer, record artist as well as make beats. I really specialize in producing and help to guide an artist through a song. I don’t always have to make a beat to be considered a producer. I’m known around the city for engineering and throwing art, college, professional events at the location on Atlanta’s beltline.

What is “success” or “successful” for you?
I define success in one word. Completion. When you have set a goal big or small and you complete this goal, you have gained success in that area.
