Meet Raven Myrick of Trappin’s Boutique

Today we’d like to introduce you to Raven Myrick.

Raven, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
Why did I start Trappin’s Boutique? That’s a good question! Trappin’s is vision that I’ve had for years that finally manifested. I can remember being younger and intrigued by fashion, all fashion. I’ve always wanted to dress myself, pick out my own clothing, and I never wanted anything that everyone else was wearing. After high school graduation, I remember sitting at the table talking with my friends as we brainstormed about how we could possibly pull off opening a clothing boutique. We were all starting college in the fall and had no idea how to move forward so we did what we knew how to do and continued with school and let the idea fall to the wayside.

Fast forward to my 25-year-old self, now working as a travel nurse in New York City the idea sparks again, but I still didn’t move forward on it. After my assignment was over, I took a break a from traveling. I remember looking online for clothing for upcoming events and I could not find a single thing that interested me or that I didn’t see everyone else in and quickly became frustrated. My friends and I would search endless online for hidden gems to find unique, exclusive clothing that no one had discovered yet. From that stemmed the urged for me to begin to seek knowledge on how to start my own clothing boutique. I believed that between myself and help of some friends we could select some clothing pieces for people like ourselves to appreciate. So, from that point I decided to take a travel assignment to California, the idea remained at the front of my mind and begin to work on fulfilling my dream. I can think back to sitting on the patio in LA February 2017 and stretching out a layout of how I would want my store set up and thinking of promotion events.

By October 2017, I had obtained everything that I needed to legally start and run a business. For New Years while visiting LA, I went to the fashion district and I was absolutely sold on my passion and dream. It felt like Christmas to me, I was in the middle of paradise. I took an entire day from open to close to visit all stores that I had researched to do a quality check and to get a feel for each business and their individual style. February 2018, a good friend of mine who’s also a clothing designer Ms. Tierra Adams, Owner of TA Company asked if I would like to do a pop-up shop with her and that’s when Trappin’s Boutique was launched! March 2018 the website went live and we have been growing and striving since then.

Has it been a smooth road?
The most challenging part of having an online boutique for me is not being able to have physical interactions with my customers to talk with them and get feedback and build trusting relationships. I’m a nurse practitioner, I’m a very personable person, I would love to talk and shop alongside with customers and give suggestions and meet fabulous ladies. My ultimate goal is to open a storefront for Trappin’s Boutique!

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Trappin’s Boutique – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
Trappin’s is a versatile name and it represents my personal style. Classy, meets street. Trappings is also another name for clothing. As individuals, we express ourselves through personal style. I like to think of it as personality trapped in our apparel. Trappin’s was created for an exclusive shopping experience, nothing is ever restocked at the boutique and everything is limited in quantity. We also offer personal shopping to help customers find the most exclusive pieces for any upcoming event or occasion.

What role has luck played in your life and business?
I would say that I’ve been blessed to have this opportunity to fulfill my passion and share it with the world. The only good luck I have is my faith, hope, and persistence to continue my journey with expanding and growing my boutique.
