Meet Raven Roxanne

Today we’d like to introduce you to Raven Roxanne.

Every artist has a unique story. Can you briefly walk us through yours?
I grew up on the Gulf Coast of Florida. My parents have an American Craft Gallery called the Zoo Gallery, so I grew up around art. I went to school at Auburn and after graduating moved to Atlanta to work for Avindy, a mother/daughter jewelry company. Before leaving and pursuing my passion as an artist, I also worked for Free People on the West Side and in Lenox Mall. After moving to Charleston my art career blossomed. Atlanta was a great city to discover more about what I wanted to add to the world.

Please tell us about your art.
I am an abstract and impressionist painter. I make painting because it is an expression of how I see the world. My artistic practice is a response to the colors, energies, textures, and composition of my life. I have created a lifestyle surrounding my work, thriving on the strength of women, the beauty of imperfection, and the harmony of mental and physical well-being of the figure. Through my work, I hope to invoke a connection for my viewers while representing the truest version of myself.

Choosing a creative or artistic path comes with many financial challenges. Any advice for those struggling to focus on their artwork due to financial concerns?
Surround yourself with a creative community that supports and loves you. That can get you through it all.

How or where can people see your work? How can people support your work?
All of my work can be viewed on my website www.ravenroxanne.com. I release collections throughout the year exclusively on my site and I also have work in Gregg Irby Gallery.
