Meet Raymond and Sharon Bogenschutz of Treasure Hunt Antique Mall in Powder Springs

Today we’d like to introduce you to Raymond and Sharon Bogenschutz.

Since the 1990’s, Raymond has enjoyed being self-employed working in small business.

Sharon owns a fiber arts business which has travelled the southeast working trade shows. Sharon and Raymond along with two business partners produce an annual trade show, (The Georgia Fiberfest), each year in Columbus, GA which entails vendors selling their wares from booths.

Our introduction to Treasure Hunt came as a vendor, which we found to be an enjoyable experience. Upon discovering the business was available for purchase, we decided to investigate further. Negotiations with the previous owner confirmed that we possessed the essential skills to successfully operate an antique mall. Now here we are, proud owners of Treasure Hunt Antique Mall!

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Taking time to discover the nuances of this particular business proved to be a wise move. learning the point-of-sale operating system for antique malls as well as accurate data entry was a learning curve. Antique vendors can be quite eccentric so accommodating the different personalities of over 150 vendors requires a diversified dynamic. One of the obstacles we faced was the unexpected passing of the store manager. As with all small businesses, having the right personal is key to success.

Owning a business always presents unique obstacles and roadblocks on a regular basis.

Anyone endeavoring to become an entrepreneur quickly becomes aware of this. An antique mall is no exception, and comes with its own special challenges and demands. A previously learned lesson is this; one must be able to anticipate future business trends and be poised to respond in a timely fashion, or risk losing the business.

Treasure Hunt Antique Mall – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
We remain true to our title and maintain a mall with primarily antique and vintage items. Our vendors have many one of a kind items for sale. We are most proud of our employees who have created relationships with our customers and vendors. Many of our customers come on the day their favorite employee works.

The employees, vendors and customers alike, refer the Mall as their “Happy Place”. The ambiance and music make a visit here often feel like Mayberry RFD, warm with hometown hospitality and banter.

Don’t be surprised to see a customer, vendor, or even us, enjoying the “oldies” music by singing and dancing down the isles!

What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
We have been blessed with a deep, unwavering passion to create an uplifting, positive atmosphere for all.
