Meet Rebecca Berthold of Atlanta Shirt Shop in Capital View

Today we’d like to introduce you to Rebecca Berthold.

Rebecca, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I started washing squeegees at a print shop in Ocean City, MD in 1992 for 5.00 per hour. I fell in love with the entire process. The camera work, the art, listening to and wearing what I wanted. I moved to CA and worked for Andazia printing Escher works and learned how to use an automatic press. I then moved to TX and opened and operated Reckless T’s for 3 years. I came to Atlanta in 2006 and opened Atlanta Shirt Shop in 2009.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Oh no! I would say owning ones’ own business is the hardest thing I’ve ever done. There are a lot of hurdles. Location, maintenance, cash flow, equipment, time management, deadlines, paperwork, taxes… on and on. The biggest hurdle was probably when we moved to a larger shop. It was a huge step, and took more time than I thought it would to even out.

Please tell us about Atlanta Shirt Shop.
We are a small screen printing company specializing in tight turnarounds, great deals, specialized printing, 4 color process, and t-shirt emergencies. We make it happen. I would say we are known for clear communication, customer service, and attention to detail. I am most proud that the company has continued to flourish despite the bad economy. Really, I am most proud of my crew. The way we get along and work together is superb. It’s more than rewarding to work with such fine folks. What sets us apart from the pack is that we care. We support community projects in our city, and each job is important.

If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
I would have waited until I had more cushion financially. I would have paid more attention to credit needs and just prepared a bit more for the necessary workload to manage such a large project/undertaking.

Pricing:

  • 25$ per for screen set ups
  • Want 100 or more? 5$ per yo!

Nice article! I would never even attempt to start a business. Congratulations to Atlanta Shirt Shop and Rebecca on its success.
