Today we’d like to introduce you to Rebecca Nye.
Hi Rebecca , thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’ve always been artistic. I’ve always been somewhat obsessed with love and all things wedding. I have been happily married to my best friend for 27 years, which definitely plays a role in my love for weddings. So, in 2020 I started dreaming of a way to combine my artistic talent with my love for weddings. I am a mom of 4. I have been a stay at home mom and a homeschool mom for over 20 years. I wouldn’t trade staying at home with my children for anything. I’ve absolutely loved it! However, as my oldest daughter started college, and as I reached my 40’s, I began to shift a bit of focus back to myself, my talents, my dreams, my future. I started looking into ways that I could design wedding florals from home, while still being a stay at home mom and a homeschool mom. I started very small, selling elopement bouquets on Etsy. A friend asked if I would design her artificial wedding flowers. That couple had allergies and were staying away from fresh flowers. So, I took on that big, beautiful wedding at the Biltmore Ballrooms in Atlanta. I rented all of the faux floral decor designs to that couple so that I could keep the cost down for them and so that I could re-use the flowers. They kept all of their personal florals to enjoy forever. That was my start! I fell in love with faux floral design.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It has definitely not been a smooth road. I had to learn every aspect of faux floral design. I researched where to buy faux florals. I ordered sample after sample to find the highest quality flowers at the lowest price point. Then, I had to overcome my forever frugal side and learn to price my designs properly. I wanted to be a match for every budget in the beginning. I am slowly learning to pay myself properly. I spend countless hours on client communication, design plans, purchasing florals and supplies, not to mention the designs themselves, all before I step foot into my client’s wedding venue on wedding day!
Another struggle for me has been the business side of things. Designing templates for the quotes, writing contracts, answering inquiries, building my website and everything in between!
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am a Faux Foral Designer and a Wedding Coordinator. I specialize in custom design faux floral wedding florals. I offer floral designs that you can keep forever and also rental options to reduce waste. I love to combine Wedding Coordinating with Floral Design. My clients can book two wedding vendors at the same time!
I am known for my excellent communication with my clients. I take great care of every clients that books with me. I keep my clients in the loop with every aspect of design from handpicked florals in the perfect shade to ribbon choices for the bouquet handles.
I am most proud of the amount of referrals that I receive from previous clients. That is the biggest compliment that I could ever receive!
What sets me apart is my attention to detail in my designs. I see every single wedding that I am a part of as a huge honor. To be invited into my client’s wedding day is privilege that I don’t take lightly.
Do you have any advice for those looking to network or find a mentor?
I have found a few amazing mentors by watching how other wedding vendors operate on wedding day. Do they show up on time? Do they treat the clients, the family members, the wedding party, the wedding guests and fellow wedding vendors with kindness and respect? Do they deliver what was promised? Do they deliver a high quality product or service? Those are the people that I choose to network with.
Serving as wedding coordinator as well as faux floral designer has given me the opportunity to work closely alongside some truly amazing people in the wedding industry!
