Meet Reese Alexander

Today we’d like to introduce you to Reese Alexander. Him and his team share his story with us below.

Please kick things off for us with some background on Reese’s story.
Growing up, Reese has always been an artistic and creative individual, which led to him taking interest in fashion, modeling, and photography upon his freshman year in college. He attended Coastal Carolina University where he obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration. Alexander purchased his first sewing machine at the age of 19 and taught himself to sew in his dorm room at CCU. Present-day, he is now designing and creating dapper men’s pieces for the bold.

The company’s original name began as “RΞZN Customs”, but change to byReeseAlexander to gain a more distinguished and luxury appeal. Alexander has remained relevant in the industry through holding solid relationships with his celebrity clients and creating amazing work that’s unique to each client’s liking. Without the support of family and close friends, none of what everyone sees today would be possible, for they were the first customers that supported the brand and gave it the foundation it still has today.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
NO! lol It has not been a smooth road. I’ve literally given up everything chasing the dream of being a well-respected designer in today’s industry. Last year I was sleeping on the floor of my friend’s apartment on the westside of Atlanta, couldn’t afford to put gas in my car to get to the fabric store. There have been months when plenty of people bought custom pieces and there have been months when only two people did. These are the times that really humbled me in this business, teaching me about the seasonal sales trends and how to prepare for the rainy days.

At one point in my career as a designer, I literally did EVERYTHING MYSELF. I designed the clothes, I cut and sew them together, I found the models, I did the actual photography for each shoot, I edited all of the content, I created and the website and social media page, and I put all of my extra time forth to market my product out to the general public. All while working a full-time job at Enterprise Rental Car, 7am – 7 pm. I would literally get off work, go home and take a nap until 9 pm and wake up to sew and create until 3 am, go back to sleep and do it all over again. There was no one I could depend on to help me, many people would ask to help and to be apart of my dream but they would only show up for a day or two before I would never hear from them again.

But in the end, this will all just a testament of my journey to the top. I know my daughter Parker Noelle will be proud of her father when we’re able to truly benefit from my ongoing labor to achieve this dream.

Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
Luck has played a small role in my business. I think great networking and relationship building has really made all the difference for me. Any major influencer I’ve had the chance to work with has come from a relationship I’ve built in the past From Gunna, Steelo Steezy, Lucci, Issa, Young Mal. They have come from people I have met in the past and believed in my brand. Big ups to Ndoh @ShotByNdoh, Christina @Putsa.cp, Kris Shelby @officialkirsshelby.
