Today we’d like to introduce you to Dr. Reet Sidhu
Hi Dr. Reet, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I am a board-certified pediatric neurologist with special expertise in neurodevelopmental disabilities. I guess you can say my story started when I was six years old and my younger brother was born. He started having seizures early on and by early childhood it was apparent that his development was slower than other children his age. He went through multiple different therapies and schools, was cared for by an amazing pediatric neurologist, and slowly made progress through the years. My mother worked tirelessly to get him all the services he needed, which was not an easy task as special needs resources then were not as great as they are now. My brother was given many different diagnoses through the years but to me, none of them seem to capture the big picture and explain all his challenges. He is the reason I do what I do. When I care for families, I think of my family and all that we had to navigate, oftentimes with very little guidance.
I was very fortunate to complete all my medical training in very large academic institutions. When I was at Boston Children’s Hospital, Harvard University, I realized that my brother was on the autism spectrum. It was a revelation that answered many lifelong questions for me and my family. My goal has always been to give answers to families by putting all the pieces of the puzzle together and in the end, just providing exceptional care. The kind I would give to my own family.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
I founded Inspire Pediatric Neurology in 2021 with a simple goal to provide better care for children with neurological and developmental disorders. We are a small, boutique-style medical practice that believes in providing exceptional personalized patient care and outstanding customer service for our patients. The patient and their family is the focus of everything we do. We have a small team of energetic, compassionate, and hard-working individuals who are dedicated to serving our families. We believe in spending time with our patients to really get to know them. We think it is very important to listen to people to understand their concerns, fears, and questions.
If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
Compassion. Patience. Empathy.
