Meet Reloaded Jo

Today we’d like to introduce you to Reloaded Jo.

Every artist has a unique story. Can you briefly walk us through yours?
I’m originally from Washington DC. I moved to Georgia when I was in about the 5th grade. Growing up I always took an interest in music even though I never really played an instrument or anything like that, but I come from a family with a music background. My aunt was an part-owner of a popular GoGo band called the Northeast Groovers. My uncle Kari played the bass guitar for the band. It’s no longer open because GoGo clubs were banned in DC due to the constant violence that would take place. For the people who don’t know what GoGo music is its a unique style of music that’s part of the DMV areas culture.

Please tell us about your art.
I’m a music producer. I mostly make trap / r&b beats, but sometimes I like to step out my element. The reason I started making beats is because I found myself in some trouble at school. I ended up getting kicked out my senior year of high school. So I had a bit of free time on my hands before I could attend my alternative school. I was just sitting in the house bored and decided to try and make some beats. I did some research and found that FL Studio was a good software for beginners. So I downloaded it and bet since I’ve been trying to perfect my craft as much as I can.

Do you have any advice for other artists? Any lessons you wished you learned earlier?
Just keep practicing. I know the saying practice makes perfect is a cliche but it’s a cliche for a reason because it’s really true. There were times when I wanted to give up on making beats because I just didn’t think mine were good enough, but you have to just keep pushing because you can only get better so why not.

How or where can people see your work? How can people support your work?
I have a YouTube channel that I use to post beats on. My beats have improved much more since then, however. Just DM me on Instagram for a snippet pack. I’m also part of a music group called 44 the label. We have a few, and there are three other producers in the group. You can follow the Instagram page @44dalabel
