We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
There were a lot of struggles. The first company Take Note Entertainment, LLC was built over a period of 18 years with my then husband. It was based on his musical ability, my writing and business savvy. When the company was on top and doing great my husband left our family.
The company was ordered to be dissolved in the divorce. I was left with nothing and basically had to start over. In addition to that, I had three children to raise on my own. I had to totally reinvent myself and figure out what direction I needed to take. Bills were rolling in and I’d been out of the corporate world 18 years. I was unable to find work that would pay me enough to afford the lifestyle we had built. I decided to push forward on my passion for creating and to develop a new company that would be based on my talent alone so that no one could ever take a company I’d built again.
We’d love to hear more about what you do.
I love my new company because I have the freedom to express my vision and creativity without having to scale it down to other perspectives. I want to give my audiences a message in each performance that is needed. Every production has a goal for the audience to leave better, more enlightened or encouraged. I want my name to be associated with excellence, professionalism and respected. I believe my gift in writing is God-given and I try to give Him my best in each production.

What was you like growing up?
I grew up in a very wooded part of Atlanta near Camp Creek Parkway. My home was on 13 acres and I was very adventurous. I had numerous dogs and cats and loved the woods. Very imaginative, I would act out stories out and play outside for hours. I loved anything that was physically challenging and was a natural athlete. My personality was friendly but I was a strong-willed child. I usually would find a way to negotiate to get what I’d want. I would play a lot of jokes on others as well. When I was young, my mom said I knew every song on the radio. I loved music and remembered lyrics at melodies at a very young age. Around the age of ten, I began writing poetry.
