Today we’d like to introduce you to Renica Rhaburn.
Renica, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I’ve worked in retail all my life, I started off at an early age totally inspired by my mother. I always knew I wanted to be an entrepreneur after working in retail for so many years. I always maintained a business on the side (side hustle). I opened a Retail hair location in Rancho Cucamonga California around 2013/2014 that was really successful. I switched the company name as I continued to work as a retail store manager and focused on the company being online only. I decided in 2019 to stop working and start going to school full-time to become an esthetician. After finishing school I moved back to Atlanta Georgia. I now work as a personal assistant for a celebrity hairstylist. I also make custom camo jackets brand called “Since 1942” which has been spotted on celebrities nationwide. I plan on also opening up my salon in the Buckhead area “salon 42” a luxury spa for all your skin needs. The 42 stands for the year that my father was born who is now deceased. I clearly was a daddy‘s girl and continue to carry on his legacy as a hustler. I also still have my hair company which is online only @stitche_hair.
Has it been a smooth road?
None of this was easy, especially after giving up my first successful hair company due to unfortunate situations. After quitting my job and going to school full-time, I was gracious enough to have my best friend whom I was fortunate to work for/assist while going to school which was an ultimate blessing. After school, I packed up everything and drove cross-country while taking our time being Thelma and Louise stopping in different states and enjoying the culture in each city and state we encountered. I am now in Atlanta Georgia. I am very happy, I am at peace and business is doing great. Business plans are in the works for a new bi-costal business venue coming June 2020.
We’d love to hear more about your business.
I’m most proud of my first hair company because it really brought out the hustle In me. My company was featured in the August 2013 edition of Juicy magazine. Choosing to run to hair Company back in 2013 was a very lucrative business which led me to different opportunities, especially with having three billboards across the LA inner cities. Is our city a good place to do what you do?
