Today we’d like to introduce you to Reuel Jacques-Sorrell.
Reuel, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I started Solos House Entertainment in the early months of 2021. This comes two years after graduating from Georgia State University with a bachelor’s degree in computer science. Although I have been working with audio, music, and film since 2014, January 2021 legally marks the birth of Solos House. Throughout the years, while receiving my degree, I studied the art of audio engineering through various online programs receiving certifications of the sort from services like LinkedIn Learning and Berklee Online Schooling. From there, I acquired skills that helped me publish projects such as “Roses”, “Raining In Monaco”, and the recently released “Margiela Fella Baby” under the stage name RONSOLO. I have worked with film industry personnel and actors to produce pristine sound engineering through auditions, voiceovers, audiobooks, and film scoring. This led me to start my own production/publishing company to ensure that my work is properly licensed and marked with my name and my own brand.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
The road has not been smooth but I’ve welcomed every challenge that comes my way. I believe the challenges are necessary and essential for personal growth within any field you decide to tackle. One of the challenges I faced was self-doubt. I constantly worried about if the path I took was the right one or whether or not what I was publishing was up to par on a competing level. I’ve learned since then to have a lot more gratitude for how far I have progressed from the first piece of music I mixed to now having thousands of plays across several countries around the world. The solution is to really enjoy the process and have fun every step of the way knowing that what you are diving into is bigger than you. If you really love what you’re doing, nothing can stop you.
Another challenge I faced was learning that one of the best ways to grow is through application or applying what you’ve learned in practice. I can be somewhat of a perfectionist so I would get lost in trying to find the information instead of letting the information come to me. The only way things stick is if you’re able to apply things you’ve taken from your trusted resources and use them to your best ability. Then, once the feedback starts rolling in, be selective as to only take in the constructive criticism and use that to further your knowledge.
Lastly and I believe most importantly, was learning that you can’t take everyone with you. As much as you set goals and have dreams for yourself, you have to understand that not everyone’s path lines up with yours. There will be persons in your life only meant to teach you important lessons and it’s solely up to you to realize and move accordingly. Others’ fears and limitations on your plans can, unfortunately, be a recipe for disaster if not properly addressed. Don’t be afraid to lose people in the process and understand that if you are genuine in approach, things can only align in your favor.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am a musical artist, vocalist, and engineer that specializes in audio engineering and the art of mixing. I am known for the music I release under my stage name RONSOLO. I can only be most proud of my resilience to grow and accomplish my long-term goals. I believe my authenticity and push for originality set me apart from the rest. No two stories are the same, so how can I not be set apart from mere birth. As previously stated, my path has led me to create the works of RONSOLO which include: “Roses”, “Raining In Monaco”, produced by Kswisha, and the recently released “Margiela Fella Baby”, arrangement by myself. I am also proud and excited for projects I currently have ongoing and what’s to come specifically in the first quarter of the new year.
Is there any advice you’d like to share with our readers who might just be starting out?
Some piece of advice I’d relay to those that are just starting out is to not let fear overshadow the overarching goal you are trying to accomplish while present on earth. Dreams are just that, but they can be reached all the same. I wish I understood the concept of failing forward when I first started out. I like to think I spent too much time concerned about my failures rather than my mini wins or accomplishments that ultimately progressed me forward.
