Meet Ricardo Kelly of Kelly Family Distributors

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ricardo Kelly.

Ricardo, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I founded KF Distributors in October 2021 in Alpharetta, GA. I wanted to get into the spirits business as a brand owner only initially, and in doing research I realized there was a huge number of black-owned wine and spirits out there and they were having difficulty obtaining a distributor willing to showcase their products in front of retailers. So KF Distributors was birthed to help change that narrative and to provide these brands with a platform that will produce actual results.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It has actually been somewhat smooth. I do however sometimes get bothered with the regulations and licensing process but otherwise, we are growing rather rapidly for only being in business for one year. It’s important to understand however for anyone interested in starting their own alcohol or wine brand that it is a process; this industry is a marathon not a sprint.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Kelly Family Distributors?
Kelly Family Distributors was founded by Ricardo Kelly. We are a beer, wine and spirits distributor for the state of GA and we currently carry 13 black-owned award-winning brands. We want to be a one-stop shop for new spirit producers and existing companies, we can help create, design, warehouse, distribute and ultimately grow brands utilizing the latest marketing and sales technology and through our network of stores and restaurants.”

Networking and finding a mentor can have such a positive impact on one’s life and career. Any advice?
Relationships are a huge part of any companies’ overall success. What works for me is being genuine and doing good business with a commitment for excellence. You only have one opportunity to introduce your brand to the market so follow-through and follow-up are imperative.
