Today we’d like to introduce you to Richard Allen.
Richard, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I played the piano in hotels, restaurants, night clubs, and army bands in San Francisco and the (former) Canal Zone. During this, I apprenticed to two piano tuners. When my tunings improved to where I was happy with them, I began tuning for a living in Atlanta. I did purchase a customer file from another tuner. In the ensuing 17 years, practically all my business has come from word-of-mouth referrals.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Musical Services story. Tell us more about the business.
I tune pianos in homes, schools, and churches, I do minor adjustments and repairs on sight. If a major repair or rebuild is needed, I know who to refer. I enjoy and am good at answering any questions my customers have.
How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
Business has been consistent for the last 17 years. I sense that it will continue.
