Meet Rick Eubanks of AML Computer Services in Dawsonville

Today we’d like to introduce you to Rick Eubanks.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Rick. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I am often asked what AML means, it is the initials of our first daughter Anastasia-Marie Liane.

The day this company was formed it was done so with two things in mind. A need to make sure I didn’t depend on anyone but myself to support her and the desire to give people an alternative to the “big box” giants that only care about their profits. So that is why we specifically wanted to make sure that home users, home based businesses and small business had someone they could find and count on to be honest and give them the best price possible.

Our tagline of “Why hire a squad when you only need one?” was conceived by my wife based on my conversations with her about how I wanted the company and its services to be performed. We wanted to offer home users and small business a place to go for computer repair that was local that can be trusted.

These “big box” places will try to push you to buy what they want you to have based on money in their pocket. They hire supposed “geeks” with no real world experience that will say anything they believe is right to get the business. If you have these people come to your house, you are literally paying for the “squad” instead of just paying for what you need. You don’t really want someone that “knows how to work on a computer” based on what they claim or someone that took a test and passed. That’s what you get at those places. At AML Computer Services we have real world experience working for corporations and now I am proud to bring that technology, knowledge and experience to you to give you the best computer repair and cell phone repair.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
The biggest challenge we face is advertising. It’s mostly a waste of money for small business. Facebook and word of mouth have been the best. The next biggest challenge we face is with companies like Microsoft that will make changes and force them on consumers without consumers being fully aware of what it means to follow what Microsoft forces on you. We have to train and correct those things.

AML Computer Services – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
We have won “Best of” Dawsonville” for the last 4 years 2014, 15, 16, and 17. This is voted on strictly by customers and is not a B2B vote. We are the premiere computer and cellphone Repair Company in the area. In this area, we were the first computer repair store to also offer cellphone repair which we started over 5 years ago. Every other cellphone repair store or computer store that added on cellphone repair followed our lead.

We have done some website design and redesign work but currently are not pursuing any new clients for that part of our business.

We also offer Apple product repair, including MacBook, MacBook Pro, MacBook Air and iMac. Our combined experience in the computer field is over 30 years.

What is “success” or “successful” for you?
If you can start a brand new business and make it at all, that’s success. However, I never left corporate world to get rich. I left to help people that is my measure of success. How my customers love what we do and how we do it. We don’t view or respond to any reviews as the sites that own them are not friendly toward businesses and allow fraudulent activity. So our measure is when we have a customer walk in and say “____ recommended you” or “my HOA FB page said “use these guys they are great” or many other things like that.
