Meet Robert (Bob) Jeter of Robert Jeter Enterprises in North East Atlanta

Today we’d like to introduce you to Robert (Bob) Jeter.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I began playing music when I was 5. I played the trumpet back then but I had always wanted to play the guitar, however, there was no need for a guitarist in an elementary school orchestra. It wasn’t until I was In High School that I first picked up the guitar. I was a singer in various Rock & R&B bands of the period as well. I graduated from college with a degree in History and took off for Europe (from Richmond, VA to Moscow – but that’s another story). After traveling around Europe and a year in London, I settled in Paris where I met my wife. Both my sons were born there. I got a job teaching but had various music projects and began to write songs. I even busked with an English musician and friend from Paris to Berlin (when it was part of the Soviet Union). Met Johnny Holiday – the biggest French Pop Star of the time and attempted to push some of my songs his way.

I finally returned to the US and took up a job in Finance to pay the bills. I continued to write songs and play music though there was a time I put the guitar down. Finally after a long period of having an on again off again affair with music I’ve made it my full-time career. The impetus was playing with my sons in the band Jeter N The Jets. I’ve continued using this brand with various other band mates as my sons now live in NY and Miami – so our performances together are not always possible.

Recently I opened my music company Robert Jeter Enterprises (Stone Shot Records) I have produced various musical works and met producer Kenny Kirby (who previously played with Van Morrison as well as with other great artists such as Sly and The Family Stone) and who produced my Along for the Ride EP. I have also been the Host on various Radio Shows – PatriotInsight.com, Bravo1MicRadio, and in the near future MattrixRadio.com. I love pushing other independent artists as well as talking politics (my history background). I continue to produce original music and perform live locally in the Atlanta area.

Has it been a smooth road?
Along For the Ride (written by Danny O’Keefe – Good Time Charlie’s Got the Blues) has the lyric “trying to make it look fast and easy” but the music business is not always that away. For many artists, it’s a long struggle with little recognition until their craft catches up with their time to be known. There are so many pitfalls and bogus deal makers one has to evade. When one is selling dreams to young and naive clients there is money and time to be lost and even older and wiser individuals can be easily fooled in a business not always known for its integrity. The struggle – as in most businesses – is to find and obtain the right knowledge and to team up with honest people who know more than you.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Robert Jeter Enterprises story. Tell us more about the business.
Robert Jeter Enterprises – is a new company at the forefront of the New Music Revolution. We specialize in producing music – often culturally aware – that is unique and tries to upstage some strictly commercialized music that is packaged for the no risk market. We believe in taking a risk – musically – and believe music should elevate the spirit and in certain ways change the world. At the same time we promote the Arts and other Artists and remain aware of the world around us and how – as Artists – we can be better citizens of the planet. We entertain but we also inform using music as the vehicle.

How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
We believe our growth will be rapid in a rapidly changing world that needs Art and Music to both shadow and enlighten our changing times. The Music Business is rapidly changing – recently from CD – to Digital but the trend could be going elsewhere – back to Vinyl perhaps. It is hard to say exactly where the Biz is headed but I do believe that Independent Artists and Independent Entrepreneurs outside of the Major Labels will start a New Music Revolution that the large players will have to recognize – and the music lover – and the world – will benefit!!
