Today we’d like to introduce you to Robert Maddox.
Robert, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
My late mother Ruby Elaine Maddox was my greatest influence, supporter, and model. My mother was a mortician and in the funeral business for 30 years. At age 14, she began showing me how to apply cosmetics to the deceased. I instantly became fascinated in the transformation over the years. I became very good at it. Yes I do dead people lol. My mother was a diva in her own right and very much into GLAM!!!!! She owned soooooo much makeup every brand you could imagine I was like a kid in the candy store. I got in so much trouble taking her makeup.
At a young age, I began giving suggestions to women on how to do their makeup and hair some got so annoyed with me others actually listened to my surprise. When I entered college, the girls can with that I could put lashes on, etc and that’s where the madness begins. I became the campus stylist. I NEVER got to go to the parties. I was stuck in the dorm with glitter everywhere. After college, I attended Empire Beauty school where I received a masters in cosmetology. For a very long time I was fixated on Mac Cosmetics And was exited each and every mama needed to replace something until one day I finally applied to.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The road has been extremely rough; I experienced insecurities due to hateful comments. I battled with the thoughts of whether or not I was good enough to compete with my colleagues in this industry. I considered giving up many times but every now and then first wind of creativity would flow my way it inspired me to keep going. Lots of people said that I couldn’t that I would fail that I would never make anything of myself. BUT I SHOWED THEM!!!!
I lost my mother July 18, 2015, to cancer. I sank into a deep depression I gave up just about everything I had worked on until one day I got a call to do services on a group of women that were breast cancer survivors after completing the makeovers and talking to the ladies they inspired me that I must keep going and do this for mom.

I am most proud that people look to me as a style Authority, and that they trust my opinion as it concerns their overall aesthetic.
I am proud that I have reached a level are providing services to celebrities that I have long admired.
I am most known for my seductive smoky eye it is my most requested look I often have to remind people that I do other things as well.
Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
My favorite memory of growing up is Easter growing the Baptist Easter is one of the biggest fashion events of the year. I anticipate it going shopping with my mother to find the baddest suit around for Sunday service also the pictures. Even to this day I still get excited for Easter.
