Today we’d like to introduce you to Robyn Young.
Robyn, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I’m the founder of Posh Pews. The calling on my life is uniquely aligned to my gifts, talents, and abilities. My professional background is in the Project/Program Management field coupled with years of experience navigating the corporate culture. I’ve learned that pivoting professionally and personally can create work-life harmony and the Power of the Pivot.
I received my bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Morgan State University, a Human Resource Management Certification from Atlanta Technical College and Master’s Degree in Organizational Management with a specialization in Leadership from Ashford University.
I’m a keynote speaker, facilitator, and moderator for industry and professional development events with a focus on navigating corporate culture, personal branding and offer consulting services. I also provide voice-overs for corporate leadership meetings, conferences and TV hosting for local public affairs shows. Equipping and empowering professionals on the fundamentals of navigating the work environment is my purpose.
I love dainty, ladylike things with a pinch of glam, and have an eye for the simplicity of quality fashion and style. I have a boutique consulting business providing services on the Power of the Pivot ranging from coaching to lifestyle development strategies. My mantra is to live my best life NOW!
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
No, the road hasn’t been smooth, but worth every bump. I’ve experienced being laid off and having to file for unemployment early in my professional career. I felt like I had hit rock bottom. My confidence and ego took a major hit. During the time of unemployed, I volunteered at my local church and developed perseverance and grit. I knew there was a lesson in every challenged I faced. I worked entry-level jobs, was a nanny and did want a needed to do, kept the faith until the right employment opportunity opened up.
I continued to pivot professionally, and each new position brought opportunities and challenges. I’ve experienced organizational changes, various leadership styles, fluctuating team dynamics that can take a toll on an individual however, maintained a high level of professional and personal integrity. Establishing meaningful relationships, fine-tuned my personal brand, and elevating my professional skills are some of the ways I’ve successfully grown my career.
