Today we’d like to introduce you to Rocky.
Hi Rocky, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I’m from Camden, Arkansas… Growing up on the Southside of the city known as Fairview, I’ve always had a passion for being my own boss when I made my first $100 in 10 minutes on the streets. Prior to me starting my clothing brand, I had no intentions or plans on creating a company or business involving clothing. Being a stand-up comedian, an idea was pitched to me about merchandise such as shirts and hoodies with my name or slogan on them. I looked up a few custom clothing companies online and thought about ordering some clothing from them. Instead, I thought of a way to cut the prices in half and the time it would take for me to receive my order. I learned how to make my merchandise myself. I had a ton of support from people who were fans of my music and comedy. The reason I turned Rockystyle Apparel into a business is because as a month went by, I looked at how much money I was profiting from it and wanted to focus on it. It took me 1,007 days to ship clothing to all 50 states, now I want to take my business on an international level. I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
Being from Arkansas, creating a business is easy and difficult. Somewhere in the ballpark of 80-95%, people from Arkansas won’t support its’ own until they see it going somewhere. I didn’t let that slow me down or stop me. That was one of the struggles I had at first. Everything else fell right in place.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
The main thing that separates my clothing brand from others is the type of clothing I make. For instance, my real name is Raymond, but everyone calls me Ray or by my nickname Rocky. Rockystyle comes from my nickname and since I’m dealing with clothing and fashion, I added style to it. I have clothing such as shirts, hoodies, women’s underwear, leggings, and other things. Some clothing I’ve came out with have phrases with my name or nickname in it such as XXXRAYTED (xxxrated), HEARTBRAYKE (heartbreak), UNDERRAYTED (underrated), and ROCK BOTTOMS. My women’s underwear is my biggest seller on my clothing brand. I make thongs, boyshorts, and hipsters. Every female who has them always say they are the most comfortable underwear they have ever worn and they like the way they look on them. Another thing that my customers love is ordering my clothing, you will receive you clothing so quick. I’m all about quality and quantity, but quality comes first.
Do you have any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
I grew up with a family that I wouldn’t trade for all the money in the world. No matter what happened during the day, we all loved each other and laughed before we went to sleep. My childhood was so great. Too many memories but my favorite has to be my birthday growing up every year. My parents always had me a pool party and it felt like everybody was at my party. I miss those days.
