Today we’d like to introduce you to Rodney B.
Rodney, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I would say that my love for photography came about from my mother. She always took lots of pictures when I was younger and it sparked an interest. Later on in life, I took an elective class in high school that taught us techniques and how to manually develop film and that pretty much was where things began. I did assignments here and there throughout college for various organizations, magazines and companies and today I manage a photo studio.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I wouldn’t say it’s been a hard road because it’s really about what you make it. Photography gives you the opportunity to pick and choose your work. Success is all about the goals you set for yourself. I would say that the challenge I often see for photographers is that some people try to devalue the craft/art of photography and what it entails.
RCKM PHOTO©®™ – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
I’m an Atlanta based photographer with over 23 years of experience. I specialize in ensuring that visions become a reality and that images are a work of art, I photograph just about everything because there’s always inspiration somewhere and pretty much in everything if you open your mind to it. The thing I’m most proud of is being able to capture moments in peoples lives and being a part of it at the same time. Long after we’re gone our photos will remain. Life is all about the people you meet, the books you read, the travels you take and the photos to remember it all. I don’t know if I’d say that I’m set apart from others but I came to the realization a long time ago that, actuations count and to try my best to make sure that each camera click is a good one, lol!
What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
I would have to say documenting/capturing the maternity photos of my sister and my niece the day she was born. She’s the love of my life and I’m so happy that I was able to do so. Of course, now she’s at that age where she sometimes hates to take pictures and you have to bribe her with gum and candy to sit still but I’ve been able to capture her throughout her ages and stages.
