Rodney, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I’m a big risk-taker. I moved from my hometown of Jacksonville, Florida to Atlanta to take a 9 to 5 job and continue running on the hamster wheel. One day I answered an ad on Craigslist asking for a videographer to cover a Red Carpet for a movie release. The pay wasn’t ideal, but the experience gained and the connections made were invaluable. From there, I started to have my phone called about other opportunities to work and gain more experience. I used to do TV production in high school so to be able to return to my roots was a true blessing. Now, I get to work with top artists, actors, and other entrepreneurs on the quest to accomplish their dreams and I just want to thank god for the opportunity. Today, we cover all types of events and will continue to expand our portfolio even more.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
This Atlanta film industry is NOT for the weak. There are hundreds, even thousands, of truly talented creatives out here. Only the strong will survive the hundreds of NOs we all get. The ability to network, adapt, and collaborate will work wonders for your career here. It’s a bustling environment, but only the strong live long and prosper!
Please tell us about Blu Spaghetti Productions.
We here at Blu Spa Productions are grateful for the opportunities we’ve been granted to showcase our talents. We cover all types of events from baby showers, to red carpets, to studio sessions with major artists. We are proud to be the head production company on a short film starring an up and coming actor in Atlanta by the name of Jackie Harrington III! The movie, Rage 2, will be released this October with hopes of surpassing the amazing numbers the first film produced. My team is comprised of filmmakers, photographers, scriptwriters, production assistants, directors, and assistant directors. We have filmed short filmstrip, weddings, movie releases, and music videos all HERE in Atlanta. We look to dominate the market by providing a once in a lifetime type of experience whenever we are entrusted to bring a vision to life. There is nothing we as a collective can’t do. We stay 10 toes down from the start and get things done.
If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
I believe that our experiences, both good and bad, define who we are destined to become so I wouldn’t change a thing. I would just ask for more benefactors starting out though.
