Today we’d like to introduce you to Rodney Williams.
Rodney, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Let’s Talk Therapy at Camp Creek is the result of my son being diagnosed as needing speech therapy.
In 2017, the diagnosis hit me like a “ton of bricks” as I immediately felt I failed my son…thinking to myself why did I not act sooner. I reflected on the overlooked periods of frustration, as he attempted to communicate what he “needed” or “wanted” and my asking, “What did you say?” or “Please repeat that again”. It was a gut-wrenching moment; yet, the speech-language pathologist (SLP) conveyed the areas of concern were correctable.
The work paid-off, as we quickly observed improvement in my son’s articulation and overall confidence, as his teachers even acknowledged his class participation was increasing.
The organization who assisted my family is Let’s Talk Therapy at Duluth. We live in southwest Atlanta; however, the owners of the Duluth location were friends of the family and able to assist our son via one of their mobile therapists.
We were fortunate to have a relationship with the owners of a company who offered speech therapy; however, we observed this service was lacking in southwest Atlanta. Hence, we met with the corporate owners of Let’s Talk Therapy, explaining the need for a facility providing – Speech, Feeding, Occupational, ABA, and Physical Therapy under one umbrella. Our discussion led to a franchise agreement and Let’s Talk Therapy at Camp Creek was born!
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The most difficult challenge is ensuring I continue to invest the needed time with my children, while also investing the needed time with Let’s Talk Therapy at Camp Creek.
Not wanting my goals to negatively impact my family, I find myself having many a sleepless night. I even eliminated my routine of watching SportsCenter.
Let’s Talk Therapy at Camp Creek – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
When joining Let’s Talk Therapy, you become part of our family and quickly realize – You Are Not Alone. We differentiate ourselves from numerous other groups by offering – Speech, Feeding, Occupational, ABA, and Physical Therapy, under one umbrella. In addition, we have the ability to treat our customers in a clinic, learning academy (daycare), or home environment; via our mobile therapists. We make therapy convenient and fun!
What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
I relive my proudest moments continually, as I’m able to witness a child’s weekly progression upon starting our program. Whether it be Speech, Feeding, Occupational, ABA or Physical Therapy, their progression enhances their self-esteem, while positively impacting the entire family dynamic.
