Today we’d like to introduce you to Romi Darling.

Hi Romi, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
Well where do I start I came into the beauty industry in 2017 with no one‘s knowledge of what I was doing I was in a bad space in my life in my relationship and down I asked God for something to keep me at home something to give me a hobby or something and he gave me make up so I practiced make up just about every day for a year before I show anyone or told anyone that I was doing make up so with that I show my sisters picture of what I have been doing and my mom was like oh my God you should be a Hollywood or something like you’re gonna do so many amazing things you’re gonna models you’re gonna be doing make up for celebrities etc. so it made me want to like know make up even more like it became something that was exciting for me and it became it gave me a different drive so make up has lead me into so many different rooms so many different places a meeting so many different people I started to lash line back in 2018 dedicated it to my sisters and my best friend and she still running now I named her after my mom “InezMinks” I’ve founded DolledbyRomi as being new to make up and being like a baby to the beauty industry and I have grown so much over the years just in my craft that it has developed into art so of re-branding myself into Artistrybyromid Displaying art through beauty so throughout these short years of me doing make up make up for me pretty much became my ministry to meeting new women Young Dro introducing a lot of women to make up in in a way that I’m just showing them they amazing your natural beauty like I’m not here to change your features or anything just to display what you look like with a little hairs me so I’ve been able to speak a conferences I’ve competed in Miss full figured Alabama Pageant became a author currently writing a book now called a mothers love I’m in pursuit of building my make up Empire the way I want to and I’m just thankful for the opportunity GOD has given me I’m thankful and grateful for the patience of my mother and my son because without them to this journey definitely wouldn’t be possible I mean I loved my job security When I worked for the postal world for eight years and I left that job to pursue make up for fulltime because I felt good and I know this is where God has placed me in. before I really knew like you could have passion about your job or career I was content with being a postal worker but make up gave me a different love and I wanted to pursue that wholeheartedly so I chose to resign from the post office and go to school to learn about skin care I’m a graduate of Aveda beauty Institute in Birmingham I’m grateful for that experience I was able to see college life through a different set of eyes so so grateful so humble and now I’m just working to continuing to like I said before what I set out to do so I’m just overjoyed with accomplishing small little things I didn’t I didn’t think I would be 36 pursuing an entirely different career but I love it I love every minute of it I will continue to tell women men boys girls to pursue whatever it is that they love go after It if God give you a vision it’s yours no one else and on the way you will make sacrifices but the main goal is to be obedient to yourself and to God !!!! peace & love, passion & purpose will always be a part of me.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
This definitely has not been a smooth road throughout this journey and like I said this has been a short journey. So back in 2019, when I left my job at the post office, I knew that it would be you know hard times but it was it was almost instantly like I was hit with a lot of things instantly the moment that I surrender to God and told him yes this is what I wanted this is what I wanted to pursue it was like the devil was right there listening too so of course you know so no this is not an easy road but I wouldn’t change it for anything alone is rolled out I was homeless for a short time in 2020 so I still had to push through because I made a promise to God that I didn’t want to fold on so having like I said my dad my mom my best friend my brother you know it was a lot of support in so many ways but I’m here still standing.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I’m currently a freelance makeup artist. I specialize in women of color makeup. I’m a special effect artist I’m also a creative assistant behind the scenes on photo shoots video shoots. I am a licensed esthetician I’m an author and plus-size model I’m a model/ confidence coach A most known for like my creative make up or glam makeup it’s so far on my journey I’m most proud of not giving up staying the course staying through to what I said out to do and what day is May apart from others I think we all make up artist or a model or whatever feel that you choose to be in and think it’s your own niche so I was just say my love for the women is what sets me apart just being able to relate to them or even relate reassure them in providing confirmation to some of the things that comes up in their life or career so yeah I think it’s just some for me that is the ministry make up is ministry for me.

Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?
I will definitely say the love that you have for whatever it is you’re doing to get you to success, you absolutely have to be in love with it and keeping the passion lit for it.
