My story began in high school when I joined an entrepreneurial program named Junior Achievement which influenced me to obtain a business degree from Fort Valley State University. I knew I wanted to start a business, but did not know in which capacity it would manifest. After many attempts, on June 2012 I founded Simmons Carpet Cleaning & Flooring Services. This type of business allows me to display my artistic talents. I look at carpets as a blank canvas, and I am the artist. I get a since of fulfillment once the job is completed. When the customer is pleased, it’s like I just completed a master piece painting. The most rewarding part of starting Simmons Carpet Cleaning was being giving the opportunity to not just start a business but to start a legacy. I want to create a family financial legacy that would support my three sons and their families.
I arrived to where I am today through faith, collaborating and sharing knowledge with others, perseverance, and resilience. I have grown from a single employee company to multiple part time employees. In addition, I have grown in the services that I provide. I now provide carpet cleaning, refinishing hardwood floors, installation of carpet and hardwood floors, upholstery cleaning, tile and grout cleaning, and pressure washing of decks, walkways, and drive ways.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
No, it has not been a smooth road. I have struggle with from consistent flow of business leads to obtaining working capital to make my company a success.
I have overcome some of these issues by living by this quote: “If there is no struggle there is no progress” by Fredrick Douglas.
