Today we’d like to introduce you to Ronald Burrell.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
My story began with God’s purpose. He needed a Carrier and I was the lucky vessel.
When I was a child, I would sneak into my sister’s room, style her doll’s hair, then put them back in her room before the morning. Well, one night I fell asleep before I could return the doll to her room. The jig was up!
I began styling my great grandmother’s wigs, then my sister’s hair each week for school, then my mom and from there God has allowed me to impact hundreds of heads and hearts.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
The decision to make hair styling a full career was a bold move for me at the time.
I have been dismissed from several considerations among the industry. Since I had a very specific and unpopular specialty, many industry heavyweights did not take me seriously.
The 1st few months in a salon were terrible! At that time my name had no resonance and I was practically begging for clients.
Even keeping up with the social and industry trends has been a challenge.
My solution for all of these issues has been as simple as creating a Business Mantra that works for me. My business mantra is “Stay faithful over a few things and be the solution”.
Please tell us about The Loc-King.
The Loc-King is a Loc Specialist from Florida who has now expanded to Atlanta, Georgia.
The Loc-King provides superior topnotch loc maintenance services for men and women who either have locs or who have decided to begin the loc journey.
You can expect to be educated and enlightened about your hair during your visit. From greeting to departure, the Loc-King will provide a Speedy, memorable and high-quality service for you and your locs.
As a brand, I am most proud of the courageous decisions I have made which have allowed me to be noticed as a unique individual. I am also proud of the dynamic that this creates for my legacy.
If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
If I could turn back the hands of time, I would embrace my capabilities as a visionary. I would understand that visionaries see it first. Therefore not being dismayed when the masses don’t quite understand the direction I may go or maneuvers that I may consider in order to achieve a certain goal. I would whisper in my ear very often, “You’re doing it right just keep moving”.
