Meet Ronald Fields aka Ronnie Eriic

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ronald Fields aka Ronnie Eriic.

Ronald, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I started being involved in music when I was a kid. Around between the ages of 6 to about 10 or 11 years, only my family had my brothers in our church and family gospel choir and me. Between the ages of 6 to about 10 or 11, my brothers and I were encouraged by my family to sing in the gospel choir. I was born in Plainfield, New Jersey and raised in Scotch Plains, New Jersey and grew up in both areas you tend to see a lot and learn a lot about life fast. Music runs in my family, on my mother’s side they were in the church choir growing up, my dad was a DJ and my uncle his brother was a well-known rapper in the state of New Jersey. But my parents pushed sports and education more than music. So, music when I was younger, wasn’t my ultimate dream. My dream at that time was to be a star football or basketball player. But when I got to college was when I decided I didn’t want to play sports anymore. I didn’t want to wake up at 5 in the morning, dedicating my life to something I started to lose interest in. While in college, I joined a dorm step team named G-Phi and a dance troupe called “Boyz Of Poison.” I found myself falling back in love with music in my sophomore year at Florida A&M University and I got the news my grandfather had passed. The only way I could get through it was music, so I started to write how I felt over a beat I heard. That’s when I knew I wanted to take music more seriously. From there, I linked up with an artist by the name of Charlie Sky who also went to college with me and was doing music heavy there. He helped me record my first track. From there, we started to meet other like-minded artists like Chrissy Sayso and Money Makin Martez. We then began to work together and form a group called LOTD “Leaders of The Dreamers” while we were in school, we started to make a name for ourselves and was able to build a nice concrete fanbase in Tallahassee, Florida. But after a while, life goes on. So after I graduated from college with my bachelor’s in Business Administration. I decided to move to Atlanta and truly make a name for myself.

In 2014, I moved to Atlanta to further pursue my musical career. While juggling multiple jobs like uber, I continued to chase my dreams. I started performing at different events and at local spots like the Music Room and East Atlanta Village. Touching these different stages would allow me to get my name out on the Atlanta music circuit.

In 2018, I started to hone in on my craft. I invested in myself by purchasing my first set of studio equipment, where I started to learn how to record my own music. Then I started freestyling in my car, showcasing my rap flow, this allowed me to start to build a solid fan base. I also released my first album REAL, which I recorded in my home studio.

In 2019, after my first studio debut album, I released three singles, “She Knows,” “Summer Vibes,” and my latest hit single “100 Grand,” which is currently featured on NBA game highlights and an AT&T advertisement.

Moving forward to 2020, I released my highly anticipated new album “Rebirth,” which I feel has raised the bar with infused R&B and hip-hop tracks everyone can relate to, learn something from, and truly love every lyric and melody put on the project. The timeless nature of my music gives listeners something to feel. And my vivid lyricism helps illuminate both my heart and soul through my music.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
No, it hasn’t been a smooth road. Some of the struggles I faced along the way are things like self-doubt, knowing who I am as a person and artist. Juggling life and all the punches it throws at you. Financial struggles also come along with this because as an independent artist you are investing everything into this like time and money. Most of the time, you’re making a bunch of sacrifices to make your vision and dreams come true. But there is also beauty in the struggle and hard work does pay off. If I didn’t go through the struggle, I don’t think I would be the artist I am today. Everything I have been through has shaped me to be a better person overall and I can project my struggles through my music so it can benefit and help someone else who is going through the same thing or doesn’t know how to fix their perspective and change things for the better.

Please tell us about your music.
I am an artist, songwriter, producer and entertainer. I write, record, mix and master (engineer) my own music. I am known for making catchy hooks and having vivid lyrics that paint a vivid picture. My music has a great storyline and a cool concept. As a songwriter, I am able to touch the listener by making relatable lyrics and melodies that can make you sing along. As an entertainer, I can make people feel good, and forget their problems. What sets me apart from others is being authentic in what I do. I have a motto or slogan that I eat, breathe and sleep every day and it’s “Feeling Good Feeling Great” anyone who knows me knows that I believe in nothing but positivity and I’m big on the Law of Attraction. What we think we become. As an artist that is multifaceted also sets me apart because I put 10’000 hours in to be an expert in my craft, and still to this day I am always learning. I am known for being a hard-working, humble individual that is always consistent when it comes to working on my craft.

Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
My favorite memory from my childhood would be family reunions with my family. We would always get together, hang out, laugh and dance. But what makes it my favorite is those memories will last for a lifetime. All the good times we had and being able to share each moment, even if its memories of a loved one I lost is what I hold on to the most. When you are young, you don’t realize that those moments are special, and now that I’m older, I can appreciate those moments and memories.
