Today we’d like to introduce you to Ronetta Jenkins.
Ronetta, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I first started my business as a junior in college. At a private college in Cedar Rapids, Iowa I was around many individuals who had financial help and I didn’t I briefly knew bits and pieces about being financially stable but didn’t know how to get there. I was inspired to do something different that no one in my state was doing. I decided I would start a financial literacy and inspirational business. This business would give financial advice and how to get back on track but also inspire individuals to keep going no matter what that may look like for them. I discovered along the way I loved helping others as business people and as people who are trying to get to the next level in life with no one to tell them you can do it. I also recognized the amount of individuals that followed me as a leader in my community.
My business has had tremendous success and I am proud to say that. I am moving to the Georgia area in December and can only hope I will continue changing lives and impacting the communities around Georgia with my knowledge. I wish at the age of 16 someone would have inspired me and taught me financial literacy, I can only hope to be able to do the same for the future with opening several other businesses along the way. I struggled throughout college, working three jobs and going to a private university full time. I got myself in an endless amount of unnecessary debt with the system set up against me. I come from a family that never really had much, so my motivation comes from not having much and being the oldest of 5 beautiful siblings with a sister who is facing stage three cerebral palsy. I am the way out and I know my hard work will pay off! Georgia will be my chance of opportunity and to do all the things I have planned for myself. The vision is to get more youth inspired to do better and not just settle for their circumstances but to have enough knowledge and power to educate and pave the way for their family members.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
No, it has not been a smooth road at all, I still struggle today. The lack of support from the people I know has been my biggest struggle. But that’s the biggest test of them all rather you just give up or keep fighting. I think every business owner faces their own struggle. I have faith I will achieve everything I am working towards.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the RonettaJ Beauty in Color Financial Inspiring Services story. Tell us more about the business.
Financial education and inspiring the younger generation to believe in themselves to be able to persevere through struggles. I want to show them how to go about things professionally and successfully. Teaching financial fundamentals and boosting confidence with positivity. My goal is to impact many lives by just being a listening ear and motivator for others to get out of their own struggle through mindset and dedication.
Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
I am extremely blessed, nothing has been easy but with God by my side, there’s no such thing as bad luck. In this life, we take things on with a purpose, how it plays out is how God shaped it to play out. I believe we tackle life with the cards we are dealt and we do the best we can. Prayer is something we do by faith. I will continue to have faith through my success and failures.
